It’s finally back! This week marks the start of the long awaited 2017 NFL season. This is the most exciting time of year for both football fans and sports investors with both College football and the NFL returning. The NFL gets things started on (Thursday 9/7 at 7:30) with the Superbowl Champion New England Patriots taking on the Kansas City Chiefs. The Pats overcame a whopping 25 point deficit in Superbowl LI to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in OT by a score of 34-28 to add another title to their already impressive resume. There is no doubt the Chiefs who are currently 9-9.5 point underdogs will have upset on their minds under the bright lights of Thursday Night Football. With the possibility of the dreaded Superbowl hangover looming the dog may actually be live in this one.

The opening Thursday night game is only a warm up for Sunday’s first full NFL card featuring some highly anticipated early season matchups. This years NFL action will as always be a challenge to handicap and predict so strap up and get ready to rumble. Here are some week 1 matchups on Sunday that are sure to grab your attention (especially if you plan on doing some NFL wagering) and make for a dramatic opening weekend of NFL football. Remember you can always get NFL picks and more information on the TGF Forum.

Oakland Raiders vs Tennesse Titans

The return of Raider’s QB Derek Carr from a broken leg he sustained in week 16 last season is one of the opening weeks biggest talking points. The Raiders face off against the up and coming Titans who seem to be at the top of everyone’s list of teams to watch in 2017. Linemakers have actually tabbed the home team Titans as small favorites over the high powered Raiders. It is sure to be a test for two teams who could find themselves making serious Superbowl runs this season and a showcase for two of the leagues best young QB’s in Carr and Mariota. With a total in the lower 50’s it seems that sportsbooks are expecting some offensive fireworks.

New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have been in the headlines this offseason but mostly for all the wrong reasons as rising star Ezekiel Elliott faces what could be a lengthy suspension. Even with the status of the star RB unclear for their week one match up linemakers have installed the home team Cowboys as small favorites over the Giants. But coming off an 11-5 season and a Wild card birth the G-Men will surely be looking to start things off right by upsetting the troubled Cowboys. Even with out Elliott the game would still feature plenty of offensive stars like WR’s Dez Bryant and Odell Beckham Jr. With the current line of Cowboys (-3) and a total of 48, even linemakers don’t seem all that sure as to how this one plays out.
