At some point in his career, Los Angeles Angels rookie Griffin Canning probably would like to finish another game. Though the goal heading into Tuesday night’s contest against the Detroit Tigers would be to complete one he started.

In his last two appearances bracketing a 10-week stint in the minors after being designated for assignment, Drew VerHagen‘s ERA has doubled.

The Washington Nationals will host the Atlanta Braves as the NL East foes open a three-game series Monday night from Nationals Park. The Braves will give the starting nod to 31-year old left-hander Dallas Keuchel, and the Nationals will counter with 30-year old left-hander Patrick Corbin. The Nationals lead the season series 5-4. This is a big series as the Nationals trail the Braves by 5.5 games for first place in the NL East.

A pair of teams from the National League conclude a weekend set down in South Beach. The Arizona Diamondbacks are on the road for the final game of a four-game wraparound series with the Miami Marlins Sunday afternoon. In the opening game of the series Friday night, it was the Marlins taking a 3-2 walk-off win. Arizona answered with a 9-2 victory on Saturday night to square the set only to see Miami assure themselves of no worse than a split with a 5-1 triumph Sunday afternoon.

Another weekend of disappointment has the Detroit Tigers desperately seeking a victory to put an end to a five-game losing streak on Monday, when they travel to Anaheim for a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels. The Tigers have been swept in back-to-back series meetings against the Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies. Meanwhile, the Angels were surprisingly dominated at home in a series loss to the struggling Baltimore Orioles.

Jordan Lyles‘ current struggles began more than two months ago when he was forced to leave a start in Cincinnati due to discomfort in his hamstring.

Lyles now tries to close the circle and avoid a career-worst seventh consecutive loss at Great American Ball Park on Monday night when the struggling Pittsburgh Pirates open a three-game series versus the Reds.

The St. Louis Cardinals will host the Houston Astros in an interleague showdown Saturday afternoon from Busch Stadium. The Astros will give the nod to 28-year old right-hander Gerrit Cole, and the Cardinals will counter with 27-year old right-hander Daniel Ponce de Leon. This marks the first series between these clubs since the 2016 season.

A pair of pitchers trying to build on positive outings collide in Queens on Saturday night as Steven Matz and the New York Mets continue their series versus Trevor Williams and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Miami Marlins will host the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second game of a four-game series Saturday evening from Marlins Park. The Diamondbacks will send 25-year old left-hander Alex Young to the hill, and 23-year old right-hander Jordan Yamamoto will take the mound for the Marlins. The D-Backs won six of seven against the Marlins last season.

The Seattle Mariners will be going for their second consecutive series win when they take on the Detroit Tigers in the third game of their four-game weekend series on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers haven’t played well this season and find themselves in the middle of another losing streak. They will try to snap their three-game losing streak and pick up their second win in their last 11 games when they face the Mariners on Saturday.

The Boston Red Sox will be trying to get their first series win over the New York Yankees this season when they take on their hated rivals in the third game of their four-game weekend series on Saturday afternoon.

Why Choose TGF?

The art of sports betting is not something that is taught or learned overnight. Like most hobbies, it takes time and effort to pick winning spreads and keep momentum. Many novice sports bettors choose to bet with their hearts instead of their minds. Sports betting is about statistical information, the type of knowledge that only comes through following teams, players and game results.
