The Cleveland Indians and the Seattle Mariners will resume a three-game series Saturday evening from Progressive Field. The Mariners will give the starting call to 31-year old right-hander Mike Leake, and the Indians will hand the ball to 32-year old right-hander Carlos Carrasco. The Indians swept the Mariners in Seattle last month.

The ensuing NL East clash between the inconsistent Atlanta Braves and struggling Miami Marlins continues in Saturday’s MLB action. An even 2-2 split in a four-game series with the San Diego Padres marked the third straight series the Braves failed at coming away with a victory. They are hoping to rectify that against a Marlins team that is 2-5 in their last seven games. Mike Soroka is slated to toe the mound of Game 2 against Miami’s right-handed pitcher Trevor Richards.

The Philadelphia Phillies are hell-bent on a different outcome in their second three-game meeting at home with the Washington Nationals. They could take control of the series with a win in Saturday’s Game 2. Meanwhile, the Nationals would love nothing more than to steal a series win on the road after falling to 2-6 in their last eight games. Patrick Corbin is expected to get the start for the Nationals against Philadelphia’s Jake Arrieta.

Major League Baseball makes its second trip south of the border this season as AL West rivals Houston and Los Angeles will try to squeeze in a two-game series despite the threat of constant rain this weekend in Monterrey, Mexico.

On Friday, the Kansas City Royals open a three-game series on the road against the Detroit Tigers. The Royals won their second straight on Wednesday defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 8-2, completing a doubleheader sweep of Tampa Bay. Kelvin Gutierrez hit the first home run of his major-league career and the Royals pounded current AL Cy Young holder Blake Snell twice in one week.

The Baltimore Orioles will host the Tampa Bay Rays as the AL East foes kick off a three-game series Friday night from Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Rays will give the call to 25-year old right-hander Tyler Glasnow, and the Orioles will respond with 30-year old right-hander Dan Straily. The Rays won two of three against the Orioles last month.

The Padres won big at Atlanta yesterday. However, off that blowout victory, they had to cross the country to host Kershaw and a rested Dodger team. Kershaw may not have the velocity that he once did but he's still capable of dominating. Last time out, he allowed one run, on just four hits, through seven complete innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter. Kershaw has a 2.25 ERA on the season and has gone a minimum of six complete innings in each start. Lauer, on the other hand, has a 4.41 ERA and has yet to make it past the sixth.

The San Diego Padres are on the road as they play the third game of a four-game set with the Atlanta Braves Wednesday night. Atlanta took the opening game of the series, picking up a 3-1 victory on Monday night. San Diego answered back with a 4-3 victory on Tuesday night to square the series. The pitching matchup for Thursday’s contest saw Cal Quantrill take the mound for the Padres against the Braves’ Max Fried.

The Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros will put the finishing touches on a four-game series when they meet one more time at Target Field in Minnesota on Thursday afternoon. Houston got shut out in the opener but then returned the favor on Tuesday. The Twins’ setback ended a four-game winning streak.

The Boston Red Sox will head on the road to battle the Chicago White Sox in the series opener Thursday night from Guaranteed Rate Field. The Red Sox will send 33-year old left-hander David Price to the hill, and 24-year old right-hander Lucas Giolito will take the mound for the White Sox.  The White Sox went 4-3 against the Red Sox last season.

Why Choose TGF?
