The Kansas City Royals are on the road for the final game of a four-game series with the New York Yankees Sunday afternoon. The teams split the first two matchups in the series with Kansas City taking a 6-1 win in the opener Thursday night while the Yankees answered with a 6-2 triumph on Friday night. In Saturday’s pitching matchup, the Royals sent Heath Fillmyer to the round against the Yankees’ Masahiro Tanaka. First pitch in that contest was set for 1:05 pm ET.

The Chicago White Sox are on the road as they take on the Detroit Tigers in the final game of a rain shortened four-game series Sunday afternoon. The teams split the first two games of the set with Detroit taking a 9-7 win in the opener Thursday afternoon and the White Sox answering with a 7-3 win Friday night. The teams were scheduled to clash Saturday but the game was postponed due to inclement weather and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on August 6. The Oakland Athletics will host the Toronto Blue Jays in the three-game series finale Sunday afternoon from the Oakland Coliseum. The Blue Jays will send 26-year old right-hander Aaron Sanchez to the mound, and the Athletics will counter with 31-year old left-hander Brett Anderson. The Blue Jays won the season series opener by a 5-1 score on Friday night.

The Los Angeles Angels will host the Seattle Mariners in an AL West showdown Sunday afternoon from Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The Mariners will give the starting nod to 31-year old right-hander Mike Leake, and the Angels will turn to 22-year old right-hander Jaime Barria. The Mariners lead the season series 4-0. Mike Leake will make his fifth start of the year, aiming for his third win.

A pair of pitchers trying to solve issues from their last start square off in San Diego on Sunday when Joey Lucchesi leads the Padres into their series finale versus Tyler Mahle and the Cincinnati Reds. Mahle (0-1, 2.65 ERA) had allowed only a solo homer and six other hits over 11 innings in his first two starts, but the right-hander had a far tougher outing Tuesday in Los Angeles.

The New York Mets play the middle game of a three-game set with the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday afternoon. New York dropped the rubber game of their set with the Phillies, falling 3-2 Wednesday on the road. St. Louis salvaged the finale of their three-game set with the Brewers, winning 6-3 on the road Wednesday in their last game. The pitching matchup for Friday’s opener saw Jason Vargas take the hill for the Mets against the Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright. First pitch in the game was set for 8:15 pm ET.

The Arizona Diamondbacks play the middle game of their three-game series with the Chicago Cubs Saturday afternoon. Chicago took the opening game of the series as they rolled to a 5-1 victory Friday afternoon.
