The Red Sox will give the starting nod to 30-year old left-hander Chris Sale, and the Yankees will send 30-year old left-hander James Paxton to the mound. The Red Sox won last year’s regular season series 10-9 over the Yankees, and they also defeated New York in the ALDS.

The Tampa Bay Rays and the Baltimore Orioles will open a three-game divisional series starting Tuesday night from Tropicana Field. The Orioles will have 26-year old right-hander Dylan Bundy on the mound, and the Rays will counter with 25-year old right-hander Tyler Glasnow. The Rays posted an 11-8 record against the Orioles last season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks kick off a road trip with the first game of a three-game set with the Atlanta Braves Tuesday night. Arizona salvaged the finale of a four-game set with the Padres at home, winning 8-4 on Sunday afternoon. Atlanta ended up with a split of their four-game home set with the Mets, prevailing 7-3 on Sunday night to close that series. The Braves won the season series 4-3 last season though the Diamondbacks took two of three here July 13-15, 2018.

The Chicago Cubs are on the road as they open a three-game set with the Miami Marlins Monday night. Chicago was rained out Sunday afternoon, leaving them with a split of a shortened weekend set with the Angels: they fell 6-5 on Saturday afternoon. Miami played the rubber game of a three-game set with the Phillies at home Sunday, losing 3-1 in 14 innings. The Cubs took five of seven meetings last season though the teams split four meetings at Marlins Park.

The Toronto Blue Jays are on the road as they open a four-game set with the Minnesota Twins Monday night. Toronto dropped the rubber game of their home set with the Rays, losing 8-4 on Sunday afternoon. Minnesota swept a weather-shortened home set with the Tigers, prevailing 6-4Ed in the finale of that series Sunday afternoon. The Twins took four of the six meetings between the teams last season though the Blue Jays took two of three here.

After a rough outing on the road, Joey Lucchesi looks to regain his dominant home form Monday night when the San Diego Padres begin a two-game set with the struggling Colorado Rockies. Jeff Hoffman (0-0, 9.35 ERA in 2018) will get the ball for the first time this season after being one of Colorado’s final cuts at spring training.

The Orioles will give the call to 30-year old right-hander Dan Straily, and 30-year old right-hander Hector Velazquez is expected to take the mound for the Red Sox. The Red Sox won the first game of the series 6-4 on Friday, and the Orioles won Saturday’s contest by a 9-5 score.

The Philadelphia Phillies will head on the road to clash with the Miami Marlins in the three-game series opener Friday night from Marlins Park. The Phillies will send 33-year old right-hander Jake Arrieta to the mound, and the Marlins will give the starting nod to 23-year old right-hander Sandy Alcantara. The Phillies posted an 11-8 record against the Marlins last season.
