NFL Week 5 Preview:

The NFL season pushes forward as we move into week 5. We are starting to get an idea what some of these teams are going to be for the season and what some of these teams will not be (sorry Giants fans). Week 5 gives us a few exciting matchups, a couple that leaves most going..meh, and one that will put a W in the win column for the first time for one of the two teams. Let’s highlight a few matchups around the league for week 5.

Thursday Night: Patriots At Buccaneers

The Patriots take on the Buccaneers in what should be a decent Thursday night matchup compared to first few weeks. Tom Brady will continue to defy father time as he takes on one of the young up and comers at the quarterback position in Jameis Winston. New England opened as a -5 point favorite and currently sits at -5.5 to -6 at most shops while the total currently sits at 55.

This is the highest total on the board by far as New England has proven two things thus far on the young season. First, they can score early and often and doesn’t matter who is playing where or what defense is on the other side they are going to put up points. And Second, their defense is not going to stop anyone having allowed an average of over 30 points per game. Tampa has some weapons on the offensive side of the ball so there is potential for a shootout in this one.

Make It Stop: Battle Of The 0-4 Records

Four teams currently remain defeated in the Giants, Chargers, Browns, and 49ers. One of them should be able to secure a win this weekend as the Chargers fly across the country to take on the Giants in New York. The Giants are coming off back to back heartbreaking losses to the Buccaneers and the Eagles while the Chargers have suffered three close losses in their first four games to open the season. Somebody should win this game but with these two teams wouldn’t be surprised to see a tie(not actually likely).

The Giants opened as a -3.5 point favorite and that number has held to this point in the week. The total opened at 44.5 and currently sits in the same position. Giants offense has started to show signs of life the past two weeks after registering one touchdown in their first two games. Philip Rivers comes into the contest after posting a monster line in last weeks narrow loss to the Eagles throwing for 347 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Best of the West: Maybe Not Who We Thought

The best matchup of the week comes to us from the NFC West where the upstart Los Angeles Rams host the Seattle Seahawks in a battle for division supremacy. The Rams enter the game red-hot after going to Dallas and defeating the Cowboys 35-30 while the Seahawks got just what they needed to cure some early season ailments in a 46-18 home trouncing of the Colts.

People are starting to believe in the Rams. After opening this game as a +2.5 point underdog at home the line has been pushed down to where the Rams are currently the favorite at -1. It looks like many are catching Ram fever and believe there may be a new team to beat in the NFC West after Seattle has dominated the division in recent years. The total currently sits at 47.5 which is where it opened. A high total compared to most as the Rams offense has put on a show thus far in the young season averaging over 35 points per game. One thing to note though in averaging this large number they have not faced a defense the caliber thus far so will be interesting to see how well this offense continues to click.

Should be an entertaining week in the NFL and if recent weeks hold true who knows what upsets this week holds for us. Hope you enjoy the games and good luck on your wagers.
