    2016 Barclays kicks off the FED Ex playoffs with the players going to Bethpage. This New York course rings in at over 7,400 yards.     2016 Barclays : Rory Putter Change

    An event outside the majors that has attracted the elite is finally here for us. Four of the worlds top five has made it to this public golf course. Defending champion Jason Day is here but since the event was held elsewhere last year this does not translate into the normal advantage. Rory has ditched his putter because of Nike bailing on the club side of golf. He is trying out new sticks and should not be considered a favorite here. In fact, fade him while he tinkers his game in the heads up portion.

     

    Cant Miss with Kevin Na

    We love the attitude of Kevin Na. Almost like the guy is grateful for his chance to grind each week out there. Four top 25’s in a row. Top ten at the Wyndham so let us embrace him heads up for the whole event. A person that is not a grinder and seems to have some wild swings is actually Dustin Johnson. He was the hottest golfer on the planet and then phoned in that 77. Look for him to tinker like Rory to get his game back. He will not be the worldbeater despite good metrics and an excellent history here.

    Golf channel has our coverage 2PM to 6PM on Thursday and Friday. CBS helps them out over the weekend for a good eleven hours over the weekend. Great entertainment value. Jason Day will certainly have the advantage over Rory for the first round heads up wagering. Kevin Na should be embraced against the players he will be pitted with.     Last leg of the Triple Crown is set to go as the 2016 Belmont Stakes is finally here. Good Morning horse racing fans. Even though there is no threat to win all three this year, plenty of profit and good times are ahead this Saturday. With one overwhelming favorite, the exactas and other bets will pay off well. Why? A glut of horse at elevated odds exist as possibilities to come in second. So let us align our bankrolls to pounce on this opportunity here at the HRW.

     

    2016 Belmont Stakes : Historic Favorites Last Decade

    Good news for those that do not like betting favorites. Some trends for a person to chew on that does not want to bet on Exaggerator near 5-4 on June 11th.


    American Pharoah was last horse since 2005 to win the Belmont as the chalk favorite.
    Afleet Alex (2005) is last example of horse winning last two races after not winning the Kentucky Derby.

    This speaks to a situation that novice race fans might not be aware of. More than one horse is saved from running the earlier races or at least the Preakness so that they can win the Belmont. What matters to owners is a win in one of the three legs instead of respectability in all three. So look for some rested rides to come out of nowhere here at the Belmont.

    The Field

    Exaggerator has a lot of uncertainty behind his odds. He blasted the field being the best mudder by far in a soaked race. Only he and Lani have participated in all three legs. What more is that Kent Desormeaux just got back from a short stay in alcohol rehab. Who knows what element this brings into the equation! Now this race is longer than the other two legs by far. More about endurance than anything. So let us look at whom to fill out those exactas on.


    Avoid Stadivari. Young horse with great speed that should burn himself out in the longer distance.
    Cherry Wine is one to take a long look at. Horse has ability, good staff, and is learning to run well.
    SuddenBreakingNews is being eaten up by the masses right now. He is an avoid as well

    Finally, a home run shot worth the while is Forever d’Oro. No one knows what to do with this horse but the bloodline is very strong here. Get these options in right now at our racebook for the 6:30PM race. Enjoy the festivities on NBC and we will see you later today here at HRWager.

    For this edition of the 2016 Clemson Georgia Tech Prediction, the Tigers find themselves struggling out of the gate. Wonderful to see one and all here again at HRWager. Clemson has slide three spots in the polls in large part of their underwhelming performances in the early portion of their schedule. Now they get a stern test as they go into Yellow Jacket (3-0) territory. 7: 30 PM start on Thursday the 22nd of September for this key ACC matchup. Tigers are almost ten point road favorites here. Is this line warranted or does the home dog rule this day here at the HRW?

    2016 Clemson Georgia Tech Prediction : Real Weakness is..

    Wide receivers seemed to have cured their penchant for dropping passes in the first two games. This should be taken with a grain of salt however because Clemson’s last opponent was of the FCS variety. While this is the cosmetic fix, their is a fault with this Tigers team that will bite them in 2016. Too many of their defensive players graduated and headed to the NFL last year. Foundation players like Corey Crawford, Vic Beasley, Shaq Lawson, and Kevin Dodd is going to take the starch out of them in clutch times. Now this is not to diminish the value and progress of Scott Pagano at DT or the super freshman named Dexter Lawrence but this team is going to have some growing pains against teams with a dynamic offensive philosophy.

    Home Field is Key

    Bobby Dodd Stadium has been sort of a burial ground for the Clemson Tigers the last decade. Program has not beaten Georgia Tech in their crib since 2003. It was also the venue that DeShaun Watson had that knee injury during his freshman year. Key to the Yellow Jackets success has been long drives. The option gives them the jail break ability with any play and now they also have the consistency to move the sticks with ease. Almost 250 yards on the ground comprises a good chunk of their near 400 yards in total offense. Do not make the mistake in thinking that this years Clemson defense will be able to stuff the Yellow Jackets option.

    Short work week is a really bad spot to go on the road and face this unusual defense. Sheer athleticism will not cut it. This will be a more competitive game than most think.     Time zone math is needed for the 2016 College Football Kickoff game on August 26th. Here in the States it is at 10PM but down under it is in the middle of the day on August 27th. Fire up those DeLorean time machines and lets us go back to the future for some profit. Great to see everyone here at HRWager starting off their weekend. Cal and Hawaii start the 2016 college football season in the Sydney Bowl. This game will count as a regular season win or loss for their records and associated props. Can Cal cover the nearly 20 point spread all these miles away from home?

    2016 College Football Kickoff : Hawaii and Travel

    If any team can be used to this sort of trek, it is Hawaii. Back and forth to the mainland several times a season has travel down pat as much as it can be for any team. Another advantage in taking the Rainbows +19.5 or so is that the expectations on this Cal team are too high. Great strides they have made from a one win team a few years ago. Goff got drafter #1 from last year’s eight win team. Only five players return on the offense from last year. Defense gave up over 30 points per game also. They will need to almost keep Hawaii to single digits in this one for the win.

    Ideal Wager

    Both teams have a ton of rebuilding to do. Rainbows at 3-10 last year were doormatts in most regards. Former QB is now their coach. He got his chops as the Nevada offensive coordinator. So he can move the ball and knows what it is like playing and traveling with this team. Nick Rolovich will have them up for at least a half in this game.

    This is where one should strike. Hawaii + 12 1/2 is a lot to spot a team so wrecked on the offensive side of the ball. A lot of pieces to replace. Wholesale changes that might sync up in the game but takes a half to get going. Hawaii + 12 1/2 first half is your College Football Play of the Day.

    2016 COPA has entered the final game of the group stages. Paraguay vs the United States is the only real game that can change the fortunes of who advances from Group A. Philadelphia is the setting where the Americans are not only the favorite to advance but in the three way lines to win. Paraguay needs to win in Philadelphia tonight to more than likely advance out of A. USA draw or better secures their passage. Lots of dynamics and profit in play for this game starting at 7PM on Saturday the 11th.

    2016 COPA : We Go for the Win

    First off, we implore all the friends at HRWager to take Jurgen Klinsmann’s statement on this game with more than a grain of salt. He has to say they are going for the win. Imagine if he was honest and said that a draw suits us fine. First it rubs against the default mentality of the American sportsfan who says win at all costs. Secondly, they say we want the draw and end up losing the game. It would most certainly cost Jurgen his gig coaching the USMNT. So while patriotism is to be applauded, it has no real ramifications in this three way line.

    Prices


    US to Win +115 area
    Paraguay to Win near +260’s
    Draw at the +250 level

    Easy to break down Group A ramifications. Draw and the USA is in because even if Costa Rica beats Colombia, the goal differential is too great. Paraguay wins and they are in for the same reason even if the Ticos pull a stunner. Now to the task at hand. Problems with Paraguay exist in their own defensive end. They will most likely hurl themselves forward in the effort to get the first goal. Now what will be the measure response from the United States in counter attack. Game with Costa Rica was all about desperation. Here it is just merely securing the game at hand. How the Americans handle the counter chances when they do not have to walk on the fine edge of a razor here?

    Costa Rica has been a program in decline ever since they lost their coach after the World Cup. They are not as bad as 4-0 as the perfect storm hit them. USA responded well for one game but their program is still wildly uneven. Props for both teams scoring should do well here. Also, the three way draw line is the place to pluck the profit on. By the skin of their teeth, the USA holds on with the draw and advances to the knockout stage. Good fortune and we will see you later today here at the HRW.

    Soccer across the pond has been exciting all day and night with the 2016 Euro Group D leading the way. Italy vs Belgium would have been a good quarterfinal match but we got it right away to open group action. Now one game through, Sweden has to make a move as they could only draw Ireland in their opening game. The three way line sees Italy as a favorite to win at -110. Early 9am EST opening kick here so get your wagers in tonight for this June 17th match.

     

    2016 Euro Group D : Free Pick

    Word of caution for those hopping on the Italian bandwagon. They have had big wins to open up tournaments and still fail to make it past the group stage. It is the team default to go with both flair and solid defense. An odd combination that makes them vulnerable against teams like Sweden. Here, they will fall into the temptation to play extra special after exercising considerable restraint against Belgium. They waited for counter attacking chances and did well there. Problem with Italy is that their national team has rabbit ears when it comes to the home town. Always tempted for that extra special game against a foe they consider beneath them. The gulf between the two teams is not as deep as Italy perceives here.

    Problem

    The rub is that Sweden needs a win not a draw or loss here. This forces them to play at a higher tempo than they might normally do against Italy. Sweeden’s right defensive flank is the vulnerable aspect of their team. Italy has options in placing El Shaarawy, Eder, or even Darmain to probe that weakness. How you should best judge Sweden’s chances is to appraise Zlatan Ibrahimovic in big games? He has spent most of his career in Italy so he knows their system well? At his age, he should have the wisdom and experience for one last special game in the Euros. This should be it.

    Sweden to win in the three way line or with a spread is the options one should entertain in this game. Italy gets real flaky playing tight to the vest against teams “below” them. Penchant to self destruction in the quest to produce a masterpiece will bite them in the behind here. Go with Sweden here to best suit the purposes of your bankroll.     NBA Draft preview provides not only a glimpse into the future of the league but provides decent television value for the sports fan this evening. Good Afternoon from your friends at HRWager. Last season it was assumed that the Lakers would draft Jahlil Okafor. They went against the prevailing tide to take D’Angelo Russell. This helped usher out Byron Scott who could not create chemistry in Kobe’s last year. So watch ESPN at 8PM to see if the Lakers will follow sense this year and all the other action of the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft.

    NBA Draft Preview : Do Not Go Counter Culture

    One year is too soon to truly evaluate Russell at #2 last year. Now the Lakers have the rare chance to immediately learn from their mistakes. They get the number two slot once again. Ben Simmons from LSU is expected to be pick by the 76ers. Lakers next on the board have another shot at a Duke product in Brandon Ingram. Let us just hope that they do not get the itch to get creative this year and just pick the best player available instead of peering into an uncertain future. After that, the waters start to get murky.

    Immediate Trade Ramifications and Other Aspects

    Boston has been floating interest in five different players. Part of it is a feint as the Celtics want an established player for this pick. The whole draft is contingent on this. Look for Boston to do no favors and wait for the draft to announce the trade. What else is important is the star quality of this class is way down on the pecking order compared to last year. Those that can stay in college are doing so because next year will be bountiful for rookies in the new collective bargaining agreement. All of this leads to the curious question of why Dragan Bender is entering the draft at 18. He has the agility and size but is a project. On potential he could have gone as high as three but the Celts are in no mood to develop him. Look for Dragan Bender to plummet to Denver at #7 or all the way into the teens.

    Another vital aspect of the NBA Draft is that it gives one a heads up on next season. This combined with the free agency period starting July 1st will radically alter the NBA landscape. Get a head up on the sportsbook by doing a smattering of work this summer. It could pay off with immense profit in the fall. Once again, 8PM on ESPN for the first round of the NBA Draft this evening.

    A compacted golf schedule sees the 2016 PGA Championship Free Picks moved forward to this Thursday. We extend a warm welcome back from all of us at HRWager. The Summer Games in Rio has forced some alterations from the norm regarding scheduling. One of the biggest moves involved pushing forward this year’s fourth major. Coming right off of the heels of the British Open, the field has hardly had time to recover from jet lag as the tour crosses continents once again. Whom are the ideal candidates to usher in profit to our wagering accounts here at the HRW?

    2016 PGA Championship : TNT

    This is one of the few events where the Golf Channel is shut out from. TNT kicks off the television coverage with from 1PM to 7PM on the tournament first two days. Weekend broadcast are shared by them (11AM to 2PM) with CBS taking it from there until 7PM on the final two days of the event. This is not the only major change as the future’s market is all shook up for this one. When was the last time that all of golf’s Big Three attended an event where none of them were the pre tourney favorite to take it down? The oddsmakers have bestowed Dustin Johnson as the favorite to take down this title at +700. Is it a power shift or something in particular that Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey presents to this field that have altered the futures market from the norm of recent times?

    Free Picks

    The fourth and final major of the year is one that rewards length off of the driver. High temperatures and lots of thunderstorms have softened the course even further. All that is really needed on the checklist for greatness here is driving length, accuracy, and momentum coming into this one. This is why the first time in close to a year is that Rory McIlroy actually lives up to the low price he gets on futures. He is +800 to win this event. His four top fives in the last few months combined with his stellar strokes gained off of the tee gives him excellent value at +800 to win this. The head to head wagering option of him verse Jordan Spieth is an easy selection on Rory over the course of the tourney. Hard to go wrong with him here.

    Dustin Johnson against Jordan Spieth for the tournament heads up is your other consideration. Dustin is top five in fairways hit with him being very close to the top in overall distance. His momentum coming into this one is on a career high. Select these two golfers in futures wagering and against Jordan Spieth for your weekend profit.     2016 US Open : Shoulder for #1

    Shoulder problem for Serena. Significant setback after Wimbledon saw her greatly limit her action before RIO and we were witness to the results after that. If this takes any power off of her serve then she is in deep trouble at the fourth Grand Slam. Without easy points, there are enough counter punchers in the draw to plague her. Look for an exit near the semis if her serve slows up at all.

    Novak’s Wrist

    Part physical and the rest mental has accounted for Novak’s slide in and after Wimbledon. Against Querrey, he just could not muster the mental energy necessary to do the deed. Now with a left wrist injury, he could be worn down. However, the gulf between him and anyone else not named Andy Murray is huge. Surface is slow enough that he will not just be served off of it as he was at the All England Club. Look for Andy Murray to continue his resurgence with another slam title here.

    Even with Andy riding high, most of the other top men and women are much closer to the pack this year. For those that crave underdog ML wagers, this is the slam for you. After one round, we can tell what the surface is like and how high the ball bounces this year. Vital information to look for a style and physical height to embrace for the 2016 US Open.     2016 Wyndham Championship Tips : Birdies Abound

    One of the easiest courses on tour is our venue this week. Humid and hot conditions with not much wind will have the ball fly father and with more accuracy. Long drivers should have an added advantage here. The real story is the field. Almost everyone in remote contention to get in the Top 125 is here. This is the cutoff for the Fed Ex playoffs. Plenty of motivation here so look for the ones near the line to grind away. Those farther away are going to have to take a ton of risks here to catch up. Thrilling action that sees TV coverage start at 5PM on the Golf Channel.

    Two Tiers of Free Picks

    Heads up wagering often involves several layers of talent. Top golfers or big names are placed against each other by our linesmaker. Lower levels are generally grouped by rankings. Plenty of exploit in this approach. For example, Webb Simpson is a beast here who is also a former winner at this event in 2011. The course lines up very well with his skill set.
