    Kobe still has trouble walking is the news out of LA for our basketball betting here at HRWager. For our profit purposes, whether he is on the court or not does not really factor into it.

    Five game road trip that can not be salvaged even with a win in Dallas. Why? Bryan Scott and D’Angelo Russell are having a spat that is turning into a war of wills. The LA press is pointing towards the preservation of his job over developing young talent as the motivation of him benching Russell in mulitple fourth quarter situations. Now the national press has picked up on it. Invest the number two pick in the draft with a team that is going nowhere to pull maneuvers like this? Got to feel for Kobe and maybe he takes this last game off.

    Dallas is professional and on a roll. This is one of those games in which you can not afford to squander. The Lakers are in near open revolt. Mavs take no chances and squash them. No back door cover chances here. Take the – 7 1/2 and avoid the Friday the 13th curse.

    Rudy Gobert was hard to replace but now he is back after missing the early part of the season. This franchise has rebounded well from Exum being lost for the entire season. Gordon has been rock steady and Rodney Hood has progressed very nicely. This is all about defensive effort. As long as this hungry team is in the playoff race, they will outwork almost anyone. Embrace right now and keep an eye for locker room quotes. At the first hint of quit then bail but until then the Jazz should be assumed an ATS buy unless concrete handicapping for a particular game indicates otherwise.

    The West is where our money will be won in the next few weeks. Portland is over valued after shocking the world. They are over achieving and do not have the depth to sustain such a push.     One should not underestimate the effects of being the road team for college basketball handicapping! Tonight is a matchup on the West Coast that could have many people on auto click for their sports investment. However before you hit password confirm, take a step back and evaluate the situation. USC (19-8) at Stanford (13-12) has been pegged as only a -2 1/2 point road favorite on the Trojans. This was deemed insufficient as the sharps moved the line towards the home team to – 1 1/2 for USC. Let us see which way the winds of profit should blow into for this one.



    Teams have struck at the Trojan interior defense as an exploit. Utah had Jakob Poeltl to pound the paint and almost score at will. Alas the Cardinal do not have the services of Reid Travis who is out with injury. Unless the role players on the front line and especially the center position have career games, Stanford will be hurting to score a lot of points this evening.

    Effects of Desperation and Home Court

    USC should expect a better defensive effort than usual from Stanford. A lot of it has to do with energy and with the Cardinal about to slide off the map for an NIT bid, the coaching staff will have their team energized. However, does saying you are going to do a thing stop a dual threat on the court? Jordan McLaughlin can not only score in his guard role but distribute the ball well. This type of dual threat is difficult to deal with by teams just willing the defense to play better.

    Momentum of the Trjoans losing three of their last four is a great concern. At Arizona and against Utah are understandable. Especially the Utes with a weapon that exposes USC as a second round exit team in the NCAA’s at best. This team is 3-5 on the road and just 8-6 in the PAC 12. All that being put on the table sees the spread going the wrong way. USC should be the road favorite and by quite a bit more. Talent is there as well as their own worry of getting to 20 wins. Wager the Trojans – 1 1/2 bolster the bankroll tonight at 10 PM.

    BC Ottawa : No More Burris

    Rushed back from a finger injury, Burris could not come close to the form he once had. Being over 40, his body does not have the bounce back it once did. Teams did not respect his ability to be accurate nor go deep as he could not get a good grip on the ball. As a result the RedBlacks offense fell off the face of the Earth. Now Harris is back and he is coming off from injury. Good news is that with the bye after this game, the fate of Ottawa for the season is looking up. Destiny in this game might not be as kind.

    Lions Potent and Balanced Offensively

    Fifth leading rusher in the league was a former RedBlack so the BC Lions ground game should have extra pep in their step. With the BC Lions QB having the third best passing yardage in the league, the RedBlacks defense will be hard pressed out of the gate. Combine that with an Ottawa offense that will need to get their bearings correct once again and no wonder the sharps have bet this line down to -2 on Ottawa. The movement in this game is absolutely spot on.

    San Diego State excels at converting turnovers into winning chances. When they generate two or more in a game, they are perfect (8-0) during the season.

    Back up quarterback is thrown into the fray for the Bearcats. Hayden Moore is a proficient passer but he has two elements going against him. He can throw he bad interception. Worse in this game is that he is not the most mobile of signal callers. Facing this type of jailbreak offense, his flow might be interrupted.

    Totals

    Here is where the total of 56 1/2 comes into play. San Diego State likes to use their running back, Donnel Pumphrey, to start their drives. This leads to considerable clock consumption. Couple that with the futility that the Bearcats offense will encounter and both the totals and spread will be in play here. Spread wager of -2 on San Diego State is high expectation here.     Best NFL Week : Future Quarterbacks

    Three signal callers who already have starting gigs shone a degree of polish that we did not think they would have already. Osweiler against the Cardinals was superb. Winston in Tampa is clicking with Mike Evans which should be a potent fantasy combination. Finally, Bridgewater was professional in grinding down the sad sack San Diego Chargers. Kudos to all these three for the strides they have made are considerable heading into 2016.

    Pity Demaryius

    Usually quarterbacks make receivers and not the other way around. Thomas of Denver has the load on the offense. He saw the starter and his play calling go for six straight runs in the opening sets that were only interrupted by punting. Demaryius played wonderfully but even he can not hope to keep his numbers up from last year. Here is a consistently improving player whose stat line will not show it in 2016.

    Defensive player that is ready to roll is Robert Nkemediche of the Cardinals. We can see all the upside the organization did in drafting him in the first round.     Bet Baseball angle is strong for ESPN’s Sunday Night broadcast for June 5th. The Giants are more than ready to go home but have this last game to conclude a ten game road trip. St. Louis (29-27) is doing their best to tread water and position themselves for a wildcard run by virtue of being in the same division as the Cubs (39-15). Let us look at where the bar was set, what direction the market has pushed it, and where we should invest for this 8PM game on Sunday.

     

    Bet Baseball : All St. Louis

    While not a dominant matchup, the market did open up at -136 on the ML. Some overnight sharp action has pushed it to -145. Part of this has to be the pattern of Peavy to not win many games in a row this year. In fact, the Giants starter has not won two this season. Peavy (6.34 ERA) is one bad start from losing his spot in the rotation and he knows it. He has risen to the occasion with zero or one run allowed in three of the last four spots of his. We take a lot of this with a grain of salt as the 4-0 win of his last time out came against the hapless Braves.

    Down Four Last Time

    Kudos to the Cardinals for hanging in there down 4-0. Home team came roaring back yesterday to win 7-4. A lot of long balls help St. Louis staunch the bleeding at home to just three games in a row. The starter they are strolling out to the mound is glad that May is behind him. Carlos Martinez (3.69 ERA) ballooned to almost a seven in a five game personal losing streak last month. Issues of control were rampant as he yielded a dozen walks. Last time out saw that number drop. Pitching coaches say it just needed a mental mindshift and was not a mechanic related adjustment.

    Market movement on the Cardinals appears to be correct. Both starters are shaky but Martinez is the better option tonight. San Fran is just ready to get home as the last game on this long road trip being at night does not help. Almost have to kill time in anticipation of the flight out of there. – 1 1/2 +155 on the home team is worth it. St. Louis is hitting the long ball of a sudden and the odds of them winning by just one run tonight is low. Good fortune with our free pick and we shall see you next time here at the HRW.

Look to embrace the Washington Huskies and Western Michigan for your profit. Both have explosive offenses that are capable of jail break moments against their opposition going forward. Look for them to have great lines at Arizona (9/24) and hosting Stanford (9/30). This is the pivotal year for Chris Petersen in his leap to a Power Five winner.

    Momentum for the sports bettor is a tricky situation in college football. Rampant success gets the ears of our oddsmakers up so soon. They inflate the odds making the teams like Alabama into a fade next week. Instead, he will miss out on Washington and Western Michigan this next month.
