    A ton of trades on the last day has had an effect on the Yankees Mets Expert Pick for August 2nd. The Evil Empire is quickly shedding not only their image but established stars as Beltran and a bevy of closers were sent packing for prospects. Mets added a much needed bat near the top of the league in RBI’s. With two strong pitchers starting tonight at 7PM, the total of 6 1/2 has seen some action. Where does the profit exist in the ML and totals on the battle of New York this evening?

    Yankees Mets : The White Flag

    How much did the Yankees want to play to role of trader? They shipped Ivan Nova to Pittsburgh for two players to be named later. While the Yankees clawed and scratched their way to a win last night, reality has sunk in for them. Even at 53-52, the attitude that this is not their time has this team looking for the future right now. Joe Giarardi will probably be gone next year. This means that if the Yankee starters can not hold back the opposition, little effort will be seen elsewhere. So tonight’s Tanaka start is important for them. However, he drew DeGrom who is hotter than him in the last three starts for their respective teams.

    Depth an Issue

    How bad is it for the Mets? They used a pitcher to pinch hit in the 6th inning. Cespedes is day to day. Cabrera at short is going to be out for a while with a knee injury. Jay Bruce will bolster the ranks for today but his presence when Yoenis gets back will force a platoon situation in a crowded outfield. Tonight wont be a factor. Tanaka lost for the first time in a month and a half against Houston giving up four runs.

    ML movement on the Mets from the original starting point of -115 to -130 is correct. Total is at a point where the under 6 1/2 is not profitable because of the up in the air status of both bullpens. Several plays this evening. Mets ML first five innings at -130 is high quality.     Zika Olympics : Rory is Out

    Rory McIlroy put out a statement asking for understanding from the Irish people as he opts out of the Summer Olympics. Even though he says the risk is low, he can not risk the health of himself or his family by playing there. This by far is the highest profile pro to opt out. Until now we had two camps. Some like Jordan Spieth remain committed to representing their country. On the other hand, we have a growing movement of golfers who are saying that a gold medal is not worth health nor risking the potential millions from their career to play in the Olympics.

    Here we have older pros like Vijay Singh and Miguel Angel Jimenez refusing to play. Louis Oosthuzien and Marc Leishman would be outside considerations to medal. Remaining qualification is supposed to be done by July 11th. A final list will be published after that so then we can set our futures to see who can win the gold medal.

    Unique opportunity for modern golfers to take home a gold medal. It would be an endorsement boon for some golfers to win. Others like the Big Three, it would just be another trophy on the mantle piece. We will examine what the millionaires plan to do in the upcoming weeks.
