  1. We sometimes forget in RIO 2016 the toll that the athletes ask their bodies to go through. Welcome back on this Sunday here at The Gambling Forum. Great to see you on this weekend. ESPN Sunday Night Baseball who are fighting for at least wild card spots right now. Boston has a lot of work to do but are close to several teams that separate them from the division or the wild card spots. Dodgers for all their problems are in the wild card if the season were to end and closing in on the lead in the NL West. Find out the starters and the rock solid wagering angle for this one here at HRWager. Red Sox Dodgers : David Price One of the higher priced flops for fading is David Price. His 8-7 with a 4.30 ERA is hardly worth that large contract he signed last year. However, his last three games has seen a tad better performance so he has slightly more momentum than he would normally have here. Dodgers are forced to use another emergency starter. Rich Hill who just came to the team can not make the start due to a blister so McCarthy takes his place. Last start he walked five batters. Now he is being forced up a day in the rotation to do this tonight. Red Sox bats have to feel blessed to face him on this last game of a very long road trip. How Tired? Nine runs two games ago seemed to be the venting of the frustrations of Boston but then they got shutout last night. Even though Price is a valuable fade, the Dodgers starter is in much worse shape for this one. How does all of this equate to a total of just seven runs? Not only that but the total has not be pounded on the over as of yet. For the ML aspect, Dodgers and Red Sox are pretty even at -105. Lot to digest for our normal Sunday night fare on ESPN. Easy decision and that is to go on the over. Red Sox will not be wanting to play much defense. Dodger Stadium will be friendly to the type of fly balls that Price gives up. However, both with Price floundering this year and the Dodgers pitcher being pushed up in the rotation. The Free Pick as a result of this is the Over 7 runs -120. Good fortune and we will see you later today here at HRWager. The post Red Sox Dodgers on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball appeared first on href="http://www.hrwager.ag">HRWager. Source

Both division leaders but the hometown team is near the -200 ML level for this one. Certainly a big part of this is that it is a Strasburg start. How valid is his effect in this one? Where can the profit be extracted for our bankrolls at 7PM? Read on here at HRWager to find out your free pick of the day for MLB wagering on the 7th of August. Giants Nationals : Even with Stephen Slightly Off Momentum for this one is a little odd for Strasburg. His WHIP is below one for the last three games even though he has given up five walks. Strikeouts are still stellar at 23 but his ERA is suffering. Over 3.30 is the result of some concentrated offense against him. The Dodgers got to him at home but he tamed Arizona and Cleveland on the road. He is well on the way to the Cy Young but one always has to worry about pitch count and innings with him. So while a -200 might be valid if he is to be unfettered, performances other than no hitters will see him go a little less deep in games this August. Giants Side Buster Posey does well against Strasburg over the course of his career with Hunter Pence performing at an average rate. In a steambox of a stadium where the temp could be 90 with 50 percent humidity, the ball will travel. Combine that with the trials of starter Matt Cain as of late. 6.39 ERA in his last three with a below average WHIP of 1.42. So plenty of angles to attack here for our wagering strategy today. Nats ML is -214 area while the RL has a healthy 100 point gap near the -1 1/2 -105 level. Total is on the 8 bar with action pushing the over to be slightly more expensive than the opener. Nats bettors should only go with the RL. Giants can go for the gusto with the ML near +185 or the over 8 runs with safety in case Cain blows up. Good fortune as you choose which team to root for in this 7PM start. The post Giants Nationals : Strasburg Market Effect 8/6 appeared first on href="http://www.hrwager.ag">HRWager. Source

Great to see everyone here this weekend at HRWager. Before the start of the season, the league offices were aware of the effect that overly defensive football was having in their game. They pushed rule changes through that meant to liberate the offenses. Find out how this is progressing and what the CFL Free Pick of the Week is for this Saturday 7PM start in Ottawa. Edmonton Ottawa : Rule Changes The bar has changed so much in this league in such a short period of time. 300 yard passing games are the norm. 60% used to be a good completion percentage and now it has fans shaking their heads in disappointment. Besides rule changes, the ability for coaches to challenge defensive plays puts the offenses over the top. It magnifies the potential for mistakes and gives the refs reasons to call infractions in line with the new league mandates. So when these two teams and their elite offenses meet, expect the total to be high. The Market – 4 1/2 on Ottawa was too much for the sharps to swallow so they swapped up Edmonton enough to drive the spread down by a point. Total’s trading has been fast and furious. It began at 58 and went up to 59 where it has pinballed back and forth to the starting point. Out of these lines, the total is where we want to go. It is the year of the offense and no unit reflects that more than the Eskimo defense. They can not stop good teams and let average quarterbacks roll all over them. Very entertaining game this evening. Unfettered route running with top offenses. Edmonton’s defense has been phoning it in all year. 58 is a lot to swallow for a total but the play is easily on the over. Good fortune this evening and we will see you later today here at HRWager. We are here to wish you a grand start for a great weekend from The Gambling Forum. High profile rookies are making moves to rule the roost and gain starting roles for even Week One in some cases. Where has the most progress been made for this new class of players? Let us take a look right now here at TGF. NFL Training Camp : Goff Week One? A certain percentage of fans for the Rams want their #1 overall pick to be thrown right into the fire for the 2016 season. While this might be optimistic, Jared Goff is making great strides early on in training camp. He is already implementing most of the playbook well. With only journeyman Case Keenum ahead of him, it is only a matter of when in 2016 he is given the chance to fly as the starter for LA’s newest football team. Cleveland’s Offensive Difference Maker Rookie in camp is getting attention as RGIII airs out the deep ball. Corey Coleman is quickly ascending the depth charts because of how he is performing in training camp. He has been making a habit of destroying the coverage of Justin Gilbert this summer. Here is one such play posted by Cleveland.com where Gilbert is getting frustrated that the rookie is getting the better of him early on. Each week new names will continue to make strides as the regular season approaches. Goff continues to gain a mastery of the offense and could push even for a week one start. Corey Coleman is proving that the shelf is not bare and that RGIII might have quality receiving options to throw to for Cleveland. Hall of Fame Game Opens up the preseason on Sunday. Great to see you all here again at HRWager. Yankees have had a fire sale and are no hoping to somehow stay in the chase for a wild card slot. Indians may not have gotten Lucroy from the Brewers but they have a three game lead. Cleveland opened up near a +115 road underdog. Where has the market gone and where is the profit for this 7PM start? Cleveland New York : Pineda Treading Water Both starters are in good recent form coming into this one. However, we have concerns about Pineda coming into this one. He is flirting with a complete loss of control with eight walks in his last three starts. His 24 strikeouts has helped him only get a 2.84 ERA despite all the free passes. He is walking on an edge and we see the ERA going up before the walks coming down. Tomlin has a 1.06 WHIP but a little unfortunate to have an over three ERA in the same three game span. Down with the Ship Yankees are 54-54 and this is the first time in months that they have flirted with going below .500. Tone and effort has gone down since the franchise said that this season is a wash. Those trades for the future are the shrewd long term move but it derails the 2016 edition. 43 times this year the Yankees have scored two or fewer runs. With this limited means of offensive production, the choice is clear. This is why the overnight sharp action has gotten the Cleveland ML from+115 down to +100. Combine that with Pineda about to implode due to his walking of batters and our free pick speaks for itself. Indians ML on the road is the path to profit today. Good fortune and we will see you next time here at the HRW. The post Cleveland New York : MLB Free Pick 8/5 appeared first on href="http://www.hrwager.ag">HRWager. Source

Good Morning and welcome back to HRWager. 64 coaches have weighed in about the power structure for the next season. Usual suspects are near the top. A surprise team got a first place vote. Finally, what school is on the cusp of breaking the Power Five chokehold on the playoff system? All of this for you right now here at HRWager. College Football : The Poll Itself Before we can break it down, we have to look at the complete body of work the 64 votes have assembled. Bama and Clemson at the top are not a surprise. Clemson has a ton of talent coming back and the Tide have earned the benefit of the doubt as the best program in college football. 1. Alabama (55) 2. Clemson (7) 3. Oklahoma 4. Florida State (1) 5. Ohio State 6. LSU 7. Stanford 8. Michigan 9. Notre Dame 10. Tennessee (1) 11. Michigan State 12. Ole Miss 13. Houston 14. TCU 15. Iowa 16. Georgia 17. USC 18. Washington 19. Oklahoma State 20. North Carolina 21. Baylor 22. Oregon 23. Louisville 24. UCLA 25. Florida We Have a Problem Houston could crash the power five stranglehold on the championship playoff. Yes, we realize that ratings have a lot to do with what teams go where in the preseason poll. So when their first game is against Oklahoma, it would behoove the industry to put them near the top ten. Secondly, who is the oddball that gave Tennessee the benefit of the doubt with a first place vote. While not wasted, it is optimistic to see them run the gauntlet. Pure headlining grabbing material there. So let the debates begin. End of August sees Australia host Cal and Hawaii for the season opener. Excitement is here. Good morning and welcome back to HRWager. Today, we see the dust settle on one of the more viable backup quarterbacks available as the first preseason game is almost upon us. A few franchises have already seen backups go down. Others are greatly limited by their lack of star power at the signal caller. Here we have a move that looks great on paper but has the potential for a lot more damage than the Chiefs intended for the 2016 season. Kansas City Chiefs : Prevention By signing Foles, they derail the prospects of the Denver Broncos. From the vantage point of sticking it to the Broncos then this is a win. Mark Sanchez leading a team at this stage of his career is generally not considered to be a positive. Foles would have given them options and at a salary that is agreeable to the Denver Front Office. Now they are going to have to stay the course with Sanchez to the delight of both Chiefs and Raiders fans. Alex Smith Anxious? In practical aspects, this move is a detraction for the Chiefs. There are two things that Alex is at this stage of his professional life. A game manager and a player who plays almost every game. Last three season has seen him play in 46 of the last 48 regular season games. Unless a bolt would come out of the blue, he is proven himself to be tough enough to handle the rigors of the sixteen game gauntlet. He had a high comfort level leading and even instructing the backups. Now with Foles, he gets a rival that is very familiar with Andy Reid. Last thing the Chiefs should have done is to cause the rabbit ears to start hearing footsteps again. Kaepernick came and took the job in San Fransisco. Now we have another situation where the fans want to win now. A game manager that feels the need to go beyond his ability is a recipe for bad turnovers. KC might have gotten stronger on paper but their practical chances are on the decline after including Foles on their team. Good fortune and we will see you tomorrow here at HRWager. Good Morning and thank you for checking in with us here at HRWager. The AL East is quickly becoming a two team race as the Red Sox 3-7 slide has put them in third place and three games behind division leading Baltimore. With Toronto ahead of the also, Boston can not afford to squander opportunities like facing a rookie starter tonight. Let us see what our linesmaker thinks of this game and examine where the profit is at with our MLB Expert Pick for August 4th. Boston Seattle : Reaping the Rewards Seattle has had a hard time trying to convince fans that they have not been sold down the river with this team for the remainder of the 2016 season. With three pitchers dealt for younger arms and prospects, the fortunes of the Mariners dim this season. However, we get to see if the future is now with Ariel Miranda’s coming over from Baltimore. Understandably, Boston opened at the -150 level but the betting went the way of Seattle to the -140 mark on the road team here. Has to be the Boston starter and an inflated total that is getting in the way with this one. Mixed Messages Total in this one started at 8 1/2 and has gotten slightly more expensive on the over side as the day has progressed. This is rather odd considering that Pomeranz has leaked runs at a rate of 7.53 ERA with a WHIP of 1.67 in his last three starts. These combinations of the market do not have any unity behind them. There is a hole here which we will strike. Boston is in the middle of a west coast string where their bats have gone oddly silent. They are the road favorite against a Mariner making his home debut after a trade. Hanley Ramirez is hurt and likely out for this one. The Red Sox starter has been horrid as of late. All of this and the total is just at 8 1/2. Runs will be plentiful in this one. Expert picks is the over 8 1/2 runs with underdog fans getting their groove on with the Mariners ML in this one. Good fortune and we will see you next time here at HRW. The post Boston Seattle MLB Expert Pick for 8/4 appeared first on href="http://www.hrwager.ag">HRWager. Source

Welcome back to HRWager as we mourn with the city of Winnipeg over horrid news. A former defensive player of the year in 2000 for Winnipeg was murdered in his home with his wife by an armed intruder. State of shock for all in the city of Winnipeg. No news yet on the memorial that will surely be planned for Wednesday the 3rd of August for fans at the game. Blue Bombers will come out flying with him in their memory for this 8:30 PM game. Hamilton Winnipeg : Wave of Emotion Shock is often released in a wave of emotion by the team in upheaval. Blue Bombers are only a +1 1/2 home underdog for this game. Hamilton was getting beat down by Edmonton before the bye but the Ti-Cats came back from 25 to win that game. Blue Bombers used the despondence that the Eskimos were in to beat them 30-23 on Thursday. They will need all of this as some powerful trends have been discovered about the recent past concerning these two teams. Trends Hamilton has owned Winnipeg the last four times they have played. An average margin of victory by 20 points speaks volumes to this. Blue Bombers have some balance going in as they have the leagues leading rusher. Finally, we have to dial it back to 2014 to see the Blue Bombers win two in a row. Normally, we are not a fan of Mike O’Shea and believe his days are numbered. However he is a four time CFL All-Star with extensive years at Hamilton and Toronto. He played during in the same era as the recently deceased Antonio Armstrong. Look for a great deal of emotional energy to be devoted to this game. Hamilton is in a holding pattern at 3-2 as Zach Collaros wont be back at QB for another week. Mike O’Shea is fighting for his job but this game at Winnipeg goes beyond that. Honoring one of their own, the former allstar turned coach gives a good performance tonight. Look for the Winnipeg moneyline to come through. Condolences to the loved ones of Antonio Armstrong and we will see you next time here at HRWager. Good Morning and welcome back to HRWager. We have a Detroit team on an 8-2 run in their last ten to claw their way to within four games of the division lead. Winners of six in a row, they host a White Sox team whose locker room is in disarray. Will this be an ideal spot to rail the Tigers once again even at a chalk ML price near -160? Chicago Detroit : Shields is Rolling White Sox at 51-54 with them being such a road underdog even with the way Shields is dealing says something about the prognosis of this team. Look at their starters stats in his last three. 0.92 WHIP 7 Walks 1.25 ERA in over 21 IP Even the walks are not hurting him as he is digging his way out of jams and not allowing many hits. However, the chemistry on this team is dead. Mixed messages about the team wanting to win and then the importance of promotions fueled Chris Sale over the edge. Team mates noticed and are mixed about this. So look for a lack luster effort once Shields leaves the game. Total and Tigers Starter Ten is the total for the game even with Shields in it. Sanchez for the Tigers has been awful as of late. AN over 1.80 WHIP with a 6.75 ERA in the last three sees him getting clubbed like a baby seal out there. SO with an overall record 3-10 with over 7 ERA, he should not be starting but injuries to the starting staff have got him in here. White Sox’s bats will be glad to see him. What a muddled mess we have here. Look for Shields to hold the ship early with the White Sox jumping on Shields. Detroit is on a roll so they could very well claw one out on the end. Too good of a price on a pitcher that is throwing very well here. First five innings White Sox +135 is the plum of the day. Good fortune and we will see you next time here at the HRW. The Evil Empire is quickly shedding not only their image but established stars as Beltran and a bevy of closers were sent packing for prospects. Mets added a much needed bat near the top of the league in RBI’s. With two strong pitchers starting tonight at 7PM, the total of 6 1/2 has seen some action. Where does the profit exist in the ML and totals on the battle of New York this evening? Yankees Mets : The White Flag How much did the Yankees want to play to role of trader? They shipped Ivan Nova to Pittsburgh for two players to be named later. While the Yankees clawed and scratched their way to a win last night, reality has sunk in for them. Even at 53-52, the attitude that this is not their time has this team looking for the future right now. Joe Giarardi will probably be gone next year. This means that if the Yankee starters can not hold back the opposition, little effort will be seen elsewhere. So tonight’s Tanaka start is important for them. However, he drew DeGrom who is hotter than him in the last three starts for their respective teams. Depth an Issue How bad is it for the Mets? They used a pitcher to pinch hit in the 6th inning. Cespedes is day to day. Cabrera at short is going to be out for a while with a knee injury. Jay Bruce will bolster the ranks for today but his presence when Yoenis gets back will force a platoon situation in a crowded outfield. Tonight wont be a factor. Tanaka lost for the first time in a month and a half against Houston giving up four runs. ML movement on the Mets from the original starting point of -115 to -130 is correct. Total is at a point where the under 6 1/2 is not profitable because of the up in the air status of both bullpens. Several plays this evening. Mets ML first five innings at -130 is high quality. Over 6 1/2 has plenty of expectation in profit as well. Good fortune in these selections and we shall see you later today here at HRWager. Best and the brightest of the game in the professional ranks would contend for medals. This time around there are real world concerns that interfere with this. Good Morning and welcome back to HRWager. Rio is almost upon us with tennis action opening up on August 6th. Who of the top tier made their way down to Brazil? How is the defection of several top players due to injury or concerns about the Zika virus going to effect our wagering mindset? Besides that, look at some of the all star teams that have formed in doubles for the Games. Murray Brothers from Great Britian. Monfils and Tsonga France Nadal and Lopze of Spain The chances that the Bryan brothers would defend or even medal for the most part are not optimal so they decided to keep their ball and stay home. Singles : No Roger nor Raonic Federer would be a compelling story to root to a possible medal but his knee has kept him out. There will be a war between the top two seeds here. Novak has not won the gold medal and gone on record stating that it is very important to him. Andy Murray under the watchful eyes of Ivan Lednl has been undergoing an extreme physical regime. He has been using one of the latest training tools in sports. It is called a Wattbike and is one of the toughest conditioning tools in the business. Should be very interesting this approach to take down his main rival Novak in the upcoming months. Men’s side is developing nicely. Most of the titans of the sport are down there. No Federer or Raonic but they were outsider contenders for the medals. The war between Novak and Andy is ramping up. Enduring Lendl for the sole purpose of putting Murray over the top has got to be grating at this point of his career. These are the extents that Andy is going to here. He has more value than Novak in futures for the gold medal in the Summer Games for 2016. Good fortune and we will see you next time here at HRWager. Bama reclaimed their crown but is the SEC on cruise control this year? Lots of talent but most every school has a key question still not answered as the teams enter final preparations. Good morning and welcome back to HRWager. Today, we look not only at the possibility of Bama stumbling multiple times but problems for most of the other SEC schools at a position or two. Let us get down and see if they will be the elite in the Power Five for 2016! College Football SEC : Tide’s Revolving Door Catches up to Them Alabama has the attitude that their signal caller can be just about anyone. Fueled by quality lines on the offensive and defensive side, this juggernaut has done very well with plugging in what they have at the last moment to lead them. This year could be greatly different. Heismann winner Derrick Henry is gone. Bo Scarbourgh could fill in this void well but one never knows. However with the Bama offense still not knowing who will lead them at QB, this team could stumble not only once but twice in the early going. USC on a neutral site to open the season sees the Trojans loaded. Game three on the road against an Ole Miss squad that has beaten them twice in a row is a definite speed bump in the Tide’s progress this year. While not probable, a 1-2 start is not out of the question for Alabama this year. Other Key Situations in the SEC Some other teams have their QB not exactly entrenched as we enter August. Auburn and Georgia are two schools looking to rebound for 2016 that lack leadership at this position. Ole Miss has a skill position choice at running back that is going to be key for their continued rise in the SEC. LSU could suffer from chemistry problems on the offensive line early as they are still not set in stone what combination they will use to start the season. Finally, a stellar Florida defense night have some problems as the Muschamp recruits are entering the second season under a new coach. Jim McElwain would be looking for any reason to get his men in those positions as soon as possible. This could derail the Gators defense for the 2016 season. Lots of change coming in the SEC. A rumored fall from grace was stopped as the Tide won the National Championship last year. Still the strongest conference in the land, the pack is closer to them than they have been in a while. How the coaches handle these key questions have a lot to determine if they will be the elite of the Power Five once again in 2016. Good fortune and we will see you next time here at Scores and Stats.
