The hospital is happy to get what the ins co pays and do not lose money on them, what's happening is they jack up the price to the uninsured to make up for the ones who pay nothing. If they charged less, far less people would stiff. By the way, we're not talking cash discounts, ins co's pay cash.(electronically)

That same poll had it's participants giving obama a +6 job approval, contrast that with another poll showing a dead heat with them giving obama a +1. Most people that like obama are going to vote dem, so they obviously sampled different sets of voters, the question is which is right? Chances are the truth is somewhere in the middle.

It doesn't need to be that way, what's happening now is the desire to force everyone to pay more so the prices/system can be propped up. A simple solution would be to require hospitals/ dr's.etc to charge the same amt's to the uninsured that they receive from ins co's. So when my mom went to the emergency room and the "bills" were 4K, but the ins co only ended up paying $500( co-pay was $250), that would be affordable for everyone(almost).

the problem is the inflated prices, it doesn't and shouldn't cost $200 to see the Dr. for 10 min, an MRI shouldn't be a grand, it should be $80, a flu shot at $30(that ins pays for) really costs $3-4. You want to treat the symptoms, not the real problem.

No, you'll still get treated and you'll owe them money, and if you cant pay it, then you have other options(bankruptcy). That 250K is phony anyway, my elderly mom(who recently passed) had many treatments near the end that were billed at ridiculous amts. $200 blood tests that the ins eventually paid $10-$15, $700 scans(billed) that ins paid $150. If she was uninsured the hospital would act like you owe them the full price, but they were happy to take the reduced amt from the ins co.

The truth buddy, the old argument that if everyone pays , the premiums are lower for everyone is nonsense, may as well force everyone to buy life ins so old people can get it dirt cheap.

Health care is not a necessity, many people go decades between dr visits, that myth is put out there by the medical community to drum up business.

Here in MN the obama care system for people buying ins on their own, had premium increases of 50-60% over last year. It' doesn't take a genius to see that disaster is looming, so maybe this year someone could barely afford it at say $600 a month(single), what's it gonna be next year? $800, $900, how about 2 or 3 years down the road? it's gonna collapse, because now even more healthy people will drop out and the remaining poor bastards will have to pay more.
