The situation is out of 20 4-5 star kids all could 23 could attend Clemson academically wise, while maybe 5 could ND.

 

A 5 star recruit views college as a path to the NFL, so may would rather not deal with the ND class room demands.

 

In prior years ND was the ONLY program on TV every single week. Cable TV has now made it so that all the big time programs are on TV every weekend, which has diminished ND's historical National recruiting edge.

 

Never forget ND hired a High School coach to lead the program not that long ago.

Despite all of the academics, ND probably still has more talent than Clemson. ND went to Clemson and almost beat them with their 3rd string QB.

Seriously, if you are offered a scholarship to Clemson and ND, why would anyone choose Clemson? Their facilities certainly are not better.

Long gone are the days of being dominate year in and year out with Northern high GPA kids who will stay for 4-5 years.
