That's what I love about our new police chief (and I have some first-hand experience with how he deals with bad cops). He is known to ride hard for a cop doing his normal job. The SLIGHTEST bit of bullshit, and you are getting disciplined.

All I ever asked for since I was five years old was for people to be consistent with rules and regulations. Over half of the amendments to the Constitution involve people not wanting to do that.

This is a good start to how you deal with this shit. We just happened to have some "blues" coming out of the academy. The mayor and the police chief are known stand behind cops doing their normal jobs, but to not tolerate ANY of that bullshit. And these grads know it. And I didn't even think about some eager and reluctant sympathizers he has for protection while in custody. You have law enforcement who are disgusted by him, but will still do their sworn duty to protect him while he is in custody. You have law enforcement who will back him because he is a former "blue", no matter what. You have corrupt law enforcement that have similar "opinions" as he does, and will definitely protect him. He is safer in custody. Tape some magazines around his stomach, and watch his back even in administrative segregation.

There are thousands of people who live within twenty minutes of him that want to beat him up severely, and at least several hundred that would be willing to kill him. He would be a fool to post bail.

Trust me--it could have been a DOLLAR. I would bet he would refuse to post it. He is safer where he is. For now. I almost think he called the prosecutors and told them to charge him, so they could take him in to increase his safety.
