  1. 2 isn’t really an option unless they had someone warming up in the bullpen who they thought could lead the party. Idk who that would be at this time.

Can't disagree as I personally perceive the GOP of my adult lifetime (1977 onward) to have fully died in Nov 2012. Strongest evidence is the field of a dozen unelectables who competed with Trump in spring of 2016.

The motivation to attempt a rebuild will come from realization that continuing to support "the trump party" = death of GOP for possibly a generation (20+ years); whereas bringing in a short term saviour (Romney....and yes I know he would lose but he is clean enough to allow the beginning of rebranding) means they *might* have a shot at competing nationally by 2028-2032.

All in all, it's a tall order because on virtually every notable social & political policy point the American electorate is strongly trending Progressive. Insistence on rebuilding with some kind of "return to Reagan or other 1990s claptrap" is a big waste of resources. And thus - it brings us back around to real possibility they ride the trump train right off the rails in a spectacular historical destructive crash and some truly new 21st century version of the GOP emerges over the next 20 years

  2. And we all know he'll skate on every one, unfortunately. But it's great to see. Energy galore. D's can't blow it by nominating a Biden or a Bloomberg.

The critical point is near. The true GOP movers - McConnell notably - must decide before primaries kick off:

    1) Remain sold out to a criminal, 4th grade literacy, drug addled, clear mentally unstable man facing massive legal and financial court cases for the next 56 months or

    2) Throw him to the legal wolves and use the next 10 months as a desperate attempt to save their national brand

With any normal person the answer would be an obvious #1 using next six weeks to negotiate a plea bargained resignation.

However, with a sociopath whose brain is demonstrating clear signs of expanding FTD, he may well be incapable of true nedgotiation and will demand to ride the ship to it's ultimate demise in which case the resignation will be more forcibly drawn out and likely includes Tiny going scorched earth

  3. Here's a little clip I pulled from the discussions...

Some Republicans are considering delaying and extending the impeachment trial in the Senate to force Democratic senators who are running for President to stay in Washington and out of the early primary states.

According to the Washington Post, Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have acknowledged the possibility and are planning accordingly.

However, there is little consensus among the Republican conference about the best tactic for the trial.

You presume Tiny could sit still & silent for even one day of a real trial, much less a proceeding that goes 48+ days?

  4. You think volume will help their case? :scratch

This circus has nothing to do with impeachment, which they know will fail, it's about hurting trump and his chances next fall. the instant they conclude it's backfiring they will end it with a thud.

Do you realize the republicans are talking about dragging out the impeachment trial to a couple months, just so they can give the dem candidates that shaft and make them sit there like dunces for two months during the campaign. They know a trial will only help Trump.

    Your imagination is delightful

  5. felons voting...….gmafb

    what about usmca,,,,,,

Disqualifying American citizens from voting is inherently unconstitutional and for the most part has been a civic weapon wielded in the southern and midwest regions of the USA under the cover of alleged 10th Amendment rights.

That's why an increasing number of elected officials in said jurisdictions are acti elyy lobbying to restore the right to vote to all U.S. citizens who reside within.

Here in Florida, Gov DeSantis has temporarily obstructed the 2018 voting restoration amendment from being fully enacted by opining that a failure to pay all court costs related to the original felony offense serves to disqualify the individual.

It *most* likely gets cleared out in time for Nov 2020 but even if the system slogs along it will be in full play come 2022 (and in 2021 for pertinent county/municipal elections)

.@RepRatcliffe asked the two “star” witnesses, “where is the impeachable event in that call?” Both stared straight ahead with a blank look on their face, remained silent, & were unable to answer the question. That would be the end of a case run by normal people! - but not Shifty!

    3:54 AM - 14 Nov 2019

As your professional experience is fairly described as existing completely outside a legal proceeding, we will forgive you for perhaps being unaware that witnesses are not qualified to render judgement on the charged events.

Rather they are only obligated to testify honestly (under oath) as to their own awareness of events

  7. Barron Trump is going to make a really good POTUS in the future

    Barron is clearly autistic.

That does not preclude his running for elected office. But I think we all know the day he turns 18 is the day Melania files for divorce....presuming Donny is even still alive at that time

  8. I have investigated charities/nonprofits for fraud before. Based on the information, it is a certainty the Trumps were guilty. It's not really up for debate.

That is just one of many talking points with me, though. I don't even consider it "hot" because it's so clear-cut, that there's no intellectual challenge in dealing with it.

His guilt in the multi-million dollar charity scam is not even a point of debate.

In order for the NY AG to settle the case without a trial, Tiny was required to allocute every component of his guilt. It is in writing and he (via his appointed counsel) signed off on all of it.

  9. and NONE of the deaths from vaping are from legal products bought in grocery stores/convenience stores etc

correct....And to further clarify, none of the deaths cited so far are clearly causative to use of vaped products. There is at best a tiny (wrt to overall national vape use being tens of millions of North Americans) sample of correlation
