maron
Man started his MLB career at 27 and is going to probably get 3,000 hits. Has a ton of hits in the J League. Fans over in Japan are going nuts because he is on pace to break Roses all time hit record.... Why would someone not vote for him first ballot? Mr.X
Anything other than 100% would be criminal
Guest boatboatboat
how many MLB players have gotten 100% of all votes on first ballot?
FairWarning
For the same reasons that no one has swept a ballot in the past. Not saying they are good reasons, but there always is a bitter voter out there.

maron
Seaver was left off of three ballots because voters turned them in blank to protest Pete ROse treatment one guy just had open heart surgery and forgot to vote the fifth was a prick who says he never votes for first timers

Always Call Heads
He did not hit home runs and played RF. That's guaranteed to get someone to leave him off.

tripp
no chance Ichiro is the first guy to get 100% He should be. I think MLB writers leaving obvious guys off their ballot "to make a point" about nobody being 100% is one of the most retarded things in sports. Anybody leaving JR off this last ballot should not be allowed to have a ballot. Same goes with Ichiro and Pedro and all the other elite no brainers that people leave off for players like Biggio (very good player just saying hes not Griff or Pedro) MLB hof is already a joke to me with no Rose, no Bonds, no Clemens etc. When most of the best all time players are not in your HOF but you have guys that were simply very good for a long time it cheapens the sentiment. barman
yah, I do think that most truly interested attendees are visiting the HOF to scope out the history prior to 1980. The past 30-40 years are more accessible via archived telecasts and expanded media exposure.
