MILWAUKEE MIKE: Do you keep your precious metals at home or in a vault somewhere?

Exactly. And that's not the only time it happened, either.

Multiple times companies storing things for customers went out of business and it's a hell of a hassle trying to recover anything, if you're even successful.

Casinos (in many parts of the country) are not totally stable and I would not want to store anything valuable there for a multitude of reasons.

it happens with all sorts of stuff... i had a swordfish on consignment with a place that went belly up and stole it... so long $800

I assume you caught the fish?  Those things are pretty much worthless except to the guy who caught it.  Are you sure it was stuffed because they don't do it like that anymore

well it was done over 20 years ago

and they're not worthless, they get sold but it takes a while which is why i had it on consignment... most of the buyers are restaurants

here's some that were sold on ebay for 500-1000

in miami they're probably a dime a dozen... but just to ship something like that here to a restaurant or some other buyer would cost hundreds

I was lust going to post this.  My best friend runs the website for the largest taxidermist here, Gray's Taxidermy.  I couldn't believe it when he told me they don't mount real fish anymore.  The molds look incredibly real and detailed.  That fish would cost about a grand to mold according to him.

that's probably why they go from 500-1000 used... even my stuffed one looked great after 20 years

i was going to put it on ebay but the packing/shipping cost on a 8 foot fish is so crazy

one of those things where now it makes me hesitant to leave any of my possessions anywhere

The fact that a man at one point in history said let's print up some pieces of paper with numbers on them and call it currency is baffling.

Can see how it made sense in the days where Silver and Gold were precious and made coins out of em, that makes sense.

But a piece of paper makes no sense to me.

and the fact that most people in the usa spend most of their working hours doing stuff they don't like, just for that paper, worrying about that paper, and even getting divorced/violent crime/etc is even more baffling
