Sol Aristatel
Frequenters or those that used to be (Like Jake Peavy), feel free to add your opinions as well. 1. Whats the best Steakhouse downtown these days? Vic and Anthony's? Oscars? Andiamo? Hugos? Are any of these an "avoid at all costs" right now? 2. It's no secret that the Palace Station Oyster Bar is the best version at the Station Casinos. But how does the one at Sunset Station stack up? Is it at least decent? Or is it an avoid? Seems like it gets decent reviews. As always my TGF brethren, your input is appreciated.
FISHHEAD
Vic and Anthony's , Oscars, and Redwood Grill favorite steakhouses downtown.......have not been to the upstairs Binions steakhouse(for steak) in years, so not sure about that.......if you go to Oscars tonight, the wife drinks free(Thursday's). The Sunset and GVR oyster bars both above average, but not up to par with that of Palace Station, other than more comfortable surroundings. The Happy Hour at Oscars the appetizers half half, making for a pretty good deal, the crab cakes qualify.....get that and the steak carpaccio(awesome), I usually order 2-3 of this steak appetizer at happy hour. Main entree, I think Joey C large filet mignon far and away best option. As far as Vic's, been only twice in last six years, so don't recall precisely/exactly what entree steak ordered, probably the NY or mignon, but both times the overall meal was excellent. I recommend you try the steakhouse at TheM at some point, outstanding.

Might be what we do. So this is daily in the lounge from 4-7pm? All appetizers are in play? And no reservations required for the lounge? FISHHEAD
No reservations needed, happy hour is either 4-6 or 5-7 Gosh, haven't been there in 6 months, so call to find out and also to make sure they still have the half off appetizers during those hours. FISHHEAD
Shit, was thinking today was Thursday, if in town tommorow, the wife can enjoy free drinks during the happy hour, but add that to your inquiry's also when calling to make certain that promo is still on, that one may have ended, but I'm sure the half off appetizers are still in effect. Its advertised on their website, but I called anyway. Its daily from 4-7pm, except for Wednesdays is for locals. And yes, all appetizers, beer, well drinks, and wine are half price. Sol Aristatel
The Happy Hour at Oscars the appetizers half half, making for a pretty good deal, the crab cakes qualify.....get that and the steak carpaccio(awesome), I usually order 2-3 of this steak appetizer at happy hour. We enjoyed the lounge at Oscars. Crab cakes were bueno. Wasn't all that enthralled with the steak carpaccio. Wasn't bad, but just wasn't anything to write home about. Never had that dish before, so I went in open minded. I expected more steak or "filet". Not some razor thin raw meat. Again, not bad. Just not my cup of tea. We also ordered the prime rib sliders. Enjoyed those. Crab cakes were probably the best of the 3. Not all the fillers most crab cakes have. Almost all pure crab. In all, it was worth it for the price. Thanks for the recommendation, -FH-. FISHHEAD
Good review Forgot about the prime rib sliders, yes, those are usually really good.
Sol Aristatel
Not gonna lie. Not much, if any drop-off at the Sunset Station Oyster Bar tonight. You could have served me that New England Clam Chowder and the Pan Roast at Palace Station and I would not have known the difference. FISHHEAD
.....will try the Sunset, thanks, have not tried their oyster bar in years, but it was always the 2nd best next to Palace IMO. Sunset one of my alltime favorite casinos, anywhere, not just Vegas.

Sunset one of my alltime favorite casinos, anywhere, not just Vegas. Will be doing 90% of my gambling in Vegas at Stations and Boyd from here on out. Just hope they will be as generous with the comped rooms as Caesars was with us.

Ive never got one comped room offer at Sunset. Hoping to change that after this trip.
FISHHEAD
......not really up to snuff on out of state mailers as should be, in-state, have most Nevada resident mailers down to a science/art thought. :)

Sol Aristatel
Good tip. Usually won't go to those sort of lengths. Gonna give them some good play over the next 36 hours. Will see from there.
