Dark Raver Camper
I'm not a market person, but if someone asked me to guessed the price of the Ford stock, i wouldn't have guess anywhere near $11. Yes im aware of a bailout some years ago.

GreenDoberman
I have some stock in Honda, mainly because I'm using it as a pseudo-savings account for buying a new car in the future. Cars overall are flat with sales. Can't imagine Ford is doing that well as most of the imports continue to beat them in sales. Dividend payout ratio is hovering near 60% which means any downturns could reduce or eliminate that dividend. If you are looking for pure yield, probably comparable % with less downside risk elsewhere.
mikeman
Car sales have been high for years, they're dropping off now and it could get worse for awhile. Stock values for these old industrial co's are crazy low, uber's prob worth more than GM, I'd pass.
Gabe
Why are car sales falling?
Guest boatboatboat
Why are car sales falling?because they are being made more and more durable as a result there are many more cars on the road with +100k miles vs 20 years ago when a car of that age was in a junk yard

ACH
It has a very low price to sales ratio. Dividend is decent. I'd wait for a downturn and try to pick it up around $10. The one caveat is that Ford has a finance division and cars have been sold subprime and those loans are going to blow. Could be a big hit to Ford. I don't know how much finance makes up of Ford anymore but I'd want to find out.
ACH
11K in Ford? You make a max bet of 1% and are going to put 11K in Ford? Holy crap.
The Dark Man
Ford has much higher levels of financing out in the world than other manufacturers when compared to market cap. That and the free fall drop of used car values
