Stated so many times......anyone visiting VEGAS not taking a few hours and taking the trek to MT CHARLESTON is missing out

Spent the late morning/early afternoon there with the AkitaPit.......we enjoyed a delicious ELK burger at the lodge at 7543 feet elevation.

Went there once with my wife, ended up in some rest/lounge, it was OK I guess, a nice change from the heat down below.

I went once with the wife. We spent 5 min in snow and then ate at the lodge. It was cool to see once but I don't see myself doing it again. I spent hours driving for a mediocre meal in the cold.

Highly recommend taking a trip up the off season ski lifts( open Fridays I think) get a nice view plus you will see wild horse families roaming freely

That sounds like something my young neice and nephew would like, any chance MT Charleston is between Vegas and Laughlin? I'm hitting Vegas Friday morning then going to Laughlin but not doing jet skis til Saturday so have nothing to do but gamble, would rather do something cool with the kids or they'll just be on the phones.....ages 8 and 5

The new trails are fantastic.....

 

For first timers, recommend the old Mary Jane Falls trail which begins near the Lodge, one of hundreds one can explore and enjoy.

One can make it all the way to top nesting spot at the Lodge in less than one hour from any part in Vegas................live in extreme southern Vegas and can make the Lodge in 55 minutes.

 

If one is familiar with the location of the Sante Fe Station Casino, the Lodge is roughly 25 miles from there, with plenty of camping sites and numerous  trails in between before reaching that destination.

I most always opt for just the ELK or BUFFALO burger at the Lodge, the ELK was excellent yesterday.

With kids, one can also enjoy RED ROCK CANYONS just a stones throw from RedRock casino and then continue on to BONNIE SPRINGS, which freatures an old western town with gunfights, a petting zoo, and a train...........50-50 one will see wild donkeys or some deer on the excursion, gators and flamingos will not be seen.
