rito
Yes. Well it cost me nothing and required no effort and got to do drugs for five years, but it's an absolutely worthless piece of paper.

Colonel Lingus
Worthless except in a few cases : MD, engineer, lawyer etc The problem is many jobs require it. The big corps basically work in concert with the universities in an organized crime fashion
ChiTownJoe
Yes and Yes Get a degree that is worthwhile, don't go for some liberal arts/humanities degree - you'd be better off being a barista at Starbucks
Sol Aristatel
Yes. And yes and no. Monetarily was it worth it? No. But the life long relationships built along the way helped make up for that.

MadTiger
Yes. Yes and no. (will explain for serious inquiries) One of the biggest problems with higher education is many don't have realistic views of their aptitude, first and foremost. Add to that what was already mentioned about the higher education industry cartels (for lack of a better word), and it makes it worse. Student loan cartels? Don't get me started. More people should go to vocational schools/short tech programs, etc.
