He bailed on the program with under 2 weeks until signing day so they lost most of their recruits. Wojo has the 7th ranked recruiting class in America coming in next year, so I'd say Wojo is doing just fine - if you think a top 7 recruiting class your first year is OK. Marquette was 17-15 last year, added no significant recruits, and lost their 3 best players from last year - Mayo, Wilson, and Gardner. They also lost Otule who was their only true big. So they lost about 70% of their production, added no new significant pieces (unless we're counting Carlino who blows), and were transitioning systems/coaches. Yet that isn't an excuse for a failure of a season. Interesting... I forgot they also lost their best shooter - Jake Thomas. They literally lost probably 90% of their production from last year. My point was I never even knew this guys name just always saw him on duke bench looking up at coach K with puppy eyes as if coach k was his rich grandpa and he wanted $5 for a ice cream cone this morning im I'm looking over todays games and I realize Marq is dead last in weak big east. If you thought a team that lost their coach 2 weeks before signing day, lost 4/5th of their starting lineup, and added no pieces of significance was going to compete I can't help you. If you think Wojo is a bad coach because of this year, it's an absurd basis of judgement. If Marquette is bad in a year or two, it's fine to bring it up and judge the guy. But judging a guy for failing with an empty cupboard doesn't make any sense... I'm not sure what your expectations for Marquette were this year, but as a Marquette fan/program follower I had them pegged for last in the Big East this year.
