You move mike trout back into the 1920's and he'd look just like they did.

Does Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, Sandy Koufax, Whitey Ford just not count bc they played in the 50s? Pitchers have always been able to throw heat, curves, splitters, change ups. You to respect the eras for what they played against and dominated at. Baseball players were serving in the war back then too. Hand eye coordination and athletic ability would translate to any generation. I had the same argument with a black guy in his 60s years back about the NBA. I was trolling him about Dirk being a top 20 of all time. He spent like 20 min writing a list of at least 20 PFs from the 70s that he thought were better than Dirk.
mikeman
Olympic champion jesse owens ran slower times than todays women do, if he was alive today he wouldn't be like he was then, he'd be like our top level sprinters are.

People today are dumber than people back then, no reason to think a well trained athlete back then would be worse than today.
mikeman
Guys didn't even start lifting weights until maybe the 80's because they thought lifting would make you musclebound and unable to swing fast, etc, if babe lifted and ate good, didn't smoke or drink, he'd be a monster. Gmcarroll33
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Just google it. They were throwing 90 back then, but just not 100 like they do now. 100+ regularly is like a 2010 and beyond era. Guess we can throw out Barry, Griffey, Dale Murphy etc too. Clearly it’s 100 mph pitchers or bust.

I look at it this way, there were players in the 40's who played into the 60's, there were players in the 60's who played in the 1980's, continue the trend - there's no evidence that the older generation in each time period were inferior to the new guys. mikeman
Here you go, 500 ft to center, even in the 1960's it was still 460 ft. how did those weaklings hit it out?
Jimmy Hoffa
Hitting one out to dead center in Cleveland Municipal was a monumental task.
mikeman
They measure all HR's now, when was the last time you saw a 500ft HR? They dont even do that in the home run derby. The longest I ever hear about in a yr is maybe 460-470.
Jimmy Hoffa
Original dimensions were 322 ft. (left and right), and 463 ft. (center). Cleveland was BIG.
