WVU
Did they burst too? How cold would it have to be before I would even begin to worry about this at my mountain cabin in NC (2500 ft elevation)The house stays heated but the pipes in the basement are exposed to the elements. Google says 6 hours of 20 or below.

If your house is heated, you'll be fine.
FISHHEAD
Wrap them in towels or go to Home Depot and buy insulation for them

What do you mean pipes in basement are exposed to elements ? Are they inside the basement or is it a crawl space.
MonkeyF0cker
If the old owners of the property didn't have problems with pipes bursting, why would you?

WVU
I got an email from the group staying there during Christmas. Here it is: Sorry to bother you again. Saw low temps of 6 and 10 degrees while we’re there. Will we have any problems with pipes/water/ heat? Is there anything we need to do? We have a home in Nantahala so we’re very familiar with winter issues. Thx! Sara

Supposed to be a low of 29 Sunday night here in New Bern. Fuck I'll be wearing shorts.

FISHHEAD
If it's 10 degrees or colder, expect the entire cabin to be flooded if not properly insulated.

The X
All the houses here have crawl spaces. Definitely different from the north. And they all have vents because of moisture. Mostly clay mix soil so it doesn't drain as fast.

Teddy kgb
If you can check the color on the pipe stamp… Red = Type M and I would insulate Blue = Type L you should be fine but insulation is cheap and easy install Green = Type K nothing to worry about sleep like a baby
