Well, there isnt much sun in Michigan in January. I'm gonna go 15kw solar and 25 kw wind here to power jaw crusher, hammer mill, dewatering screw and pumps. Hope you have better luck. We had 2 sunny days in January, not sure how much that can produce when you only have 9 hours of sun.

You can manage a bit of dead air with the solar and a decent battery pack.

Don't know, different company and/or type of turbine perhaps? Could also be based on the predicted energy produced per turbine. NW Iowa is wind heaven. That's a lot of money, if I had land and was offered that I would try to talk to farmers in that area(with existing windmills) and ask them if you really get that kind of payments. if it's true, that's a lot of money to pass up. FISHHEAD
IOWA produces 11.4% of the nation's wind energy, only Texas produces more............but they obviously have a much larger land mass.
