Lloyd’s of London sees multi-billion dollar insurance loss from Baltimore bridge collapse

It was too soon to put a figure on the total insurance loss, Bruce Carnegie-Brown told Reuters, but he said he would be “very surprised” if the event did not result in a multi-billion dollar loss, adding that “the tragedy has the capacity to become the largest single marine insurance loss ever”.

Lloyd’s, which has more than 50 member firms, is active in the marine and property insurance markets, which are expected to face large claims from the damage to the bridge and the disruption in the port.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Rebuilding Baltimore’s collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge could take anywhere from 18 months to several years, experts say, while the cost could be at least $400 million — or more than twice that.

They range from the design of the new bridge to how swiftly government officials can navigate the bureaucracy of approving permits and awarding contracts. Realistically, the project could take five to seven years, according to Ben Schafer, an engineering professor at Johns Hopkins University.Mar 29, 2024

Skip the bullshit on top new estimates UP TO 10 Years and it will cost $8 BILLION DOLLARS.

How the fuck you go from $400 million in 18 months to several years up to $8 Billion  dollars and ten years to build a new one  :laugh

Biden wants a special federal bill to rebuild the bridge, do you think they'll pass a bill for a lousy $400 million? That's insulting, Biden doesn't pick up his pen for less than a few billion.

If you look at the photo's most of the bridge(the concrete part) is still standing, obviously they should just rebuild the part that fell(and build it better), knowing the feds they'll tear the whole thing down and turn a 1/2 mile rebuild into one of several miles.
