What do you guys think of this?

I think it hilarious.  I love it when smart people do dumb things, and then it blows up in their faces and they look like idiots.

MLB made a decision long ago to let the fans decide who starts the AS game.  Now people are up in arms because almost the entire KC lineup might be starting.

Sure, KC has some all-stars.  But 7 or 8?  Cmon, of course not.  Its a joke.

I'm listening to SVP and Russillo right now and they want the Commish to step in.  Are you kidding me?  MLB made this bed, they have to lie in it.  Idiots.

So KC fans exploited the rules, and the Commish shouldn't step in and say "No"

JFC

Why have a commish?

of course he should step in and say NO YOU CANT HAVE 8 Royals starting

Disagree 1000%.

They have a system in place.  Don't go changing the rules midstream just because you don't like the result.

Change it in the offseason.  Fine.  But now?  He's going to go through and make the decision himself on who is a worthy all-star out of that group of Royals and who isn't?

LOL.  Ok.  Good luck with that firestorm...

You simply say max # of starters is ___ and be done with it. Royals coaches or all star coach can decide who starts.

you don't shit up the game for millions of fans nation wide so 75 fans in KC can laugh

Just make shit up mid-stream then.  Based on what YOU think is fair and reasonable.

And it's not the KC fans that are shitting it up.  They are simply voting for their team.  Don't blame them.  Blame MLB.

And their are more than just 75 KC fans laughing.  There are a few non-KC fans in this thread that think it's hilarious.

yes the commish job is to make adjustments as they see fit.

that's what they are elected and hired to do.

STRONG leaders know that at times you have to make adjustments rather than just put your hands up and say "well them dar is the rules"

Well of course.

But thats not what is being argued here.  What's being argued is whether or not this is one of those times.  And I say hell no.  It will be a MUCH bigger joke if he steps in and tries to fix it mid-stream.

We are gonna have to agree to disagree on this I guess.

Commish wants this..now he steps in and puts a stop to this dumb process of fan voting. This is part of the script. Mlb has been tired of fan voting for years and now wth the steroid guys making the team..this is when they take back the reigns. Let the manager or players decide not some pimple face clown at home on his computer all day..sorry forum guys no hard feelings

50 votes per e-mail addy

How many times does MLB let 1 IP address vote for the AS game?  And they ENCOURAGE you to vote as much as you can.

This is on the MLB clowns.

As Brock would say, you reap what you "sew".

No way can baseball step in and now decide certain players cant start because they say so. MLB's fault for making such a stupid rule (not just MLB, same in pretty much every sport)

Fans should have no say on who is in the All Star game. This is a real thing that matters to many of the players and some have incentives in their contracts based on making the AS team. Fans deciding they want to see all their mediocre hometown players play the game embarrasses the sport. Just like in NBA where Yao Ming led the All Star voting one season when he played exactly ZERO games due to injury. Kobe Bryant is an All Star every year when he has been a below average NBA player for years. So its not just an MLB problem it is just magnified in MLB since the game actually determines HFA (something im not against FTR i actually like it)

But it should either be writers or team execs that decide the All Stars, fans shouldnt get a say in shit. Aside from voting in their teams guys they also dont know the sport very well in general. Maybe let fans vote in the final AS like they do now where you have four or five guys going for the last spot in each league. But thats it
