Kluber of Cleveland has been getting it done in style in almost every regard in his last three games. 30 strikeouts is something that one must take a moment to digest. This rate is happening when he is getting near 200 IP for the year. A WHIP of 0.95 is downright nasty considering he has seven walks in that time frame. ERA of 2.86 is a tad high for all this productivity. Hate to say it but a few less strikeouts would leave him with more fuel to elude the walks as of late. Fulmer has been Fading Fulmer has been a go to guy for the Tigers and a Rookie of the Year candidate for the AL. However, he has been running on fumes in his last four starts. Over 5 ERA is not what we like to see coming into such a key game. This is why the market is near -160 for the home team tonight. Can Cleveland be this strong despite just being 5-5 in their last ten? Even the total has been steady at 7 1/2 despite action both ways on the over and under. This seems to be right where the market thinks it should be. Sharps have not moved this much. Big series so take Cleveland ML in the opener. Ward has dynamics that can not be replaced on the field. An opening line of -7 has only inched to -7 1/2. Part of this is the history between these two teams as of late. Last three meetings have had combined winning margins totaling just 18 points. Even when Houston was rolling and hosted the game last year, they could only win 33-30. Bearcats have dominated this series until last year. This has given the sharps plenty of pause to pull the trigger in this one. Bearcats Keep it Close? Decent win against Purdue has Cincinnati (2-0) performing well. Short weeks tend to be great equalizers for home teams and those that are underdogs. One cause for concern in this one is Hayden Moore. He played well for him and got 250 yards and two touchdowns. Alas, his completion rate clipped in at 19 for 32. In the face of all the exotic and aggressive blitz packages that Houston can throw at them, will the lack of safe reliable passes be the Bearcats undoing? So many trends one has to go against taking Houston – 7 1/2 but it is the right play. Best defense that can just pin their ears back is the Cougar unit. Little effort was given in their layup win. This is their special season where they are trying to break the Power Five hold on the college football playoff. They need a double digit win here and they will get it. Starters for this one are Lester for the Cubs and Martinez for St. Louis. Both have been very good as of late. Let us look at the momentum and the wild totals swing for this game. If you want to go Cubs then it is either full game runline or five inning money line. St. Louis is fighting for their lives but can not be taken in the five inning line. In the files of NCAAF News is what was learned from Week Two of the college football season. Good Sunday to everyone here at Scores and Stats. A few teams have been very stable in the 2016 season but they have proven to be the exception. FSU, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, and Louisville are just some of the schools that more than just held serve in their opening wins. What schools thrilled but ultimately have been let downs wagering wise? Let us examine what transpired Saturday here at HRWager. NCAAF News : Big 12 is a Dud When all three of your top flight teams take a tumble then the chances of your Power Five conference making it into the playoffs takes a drastic hit. Oklahoma last week and now two odd finishes to contemplate. Oklahoma State lost a close game to Central Michigan on a Hail Mary that could have been prevented. Arkansas and TCU was a barnburner. Entertainment value it was superb but a game that TCU could not afford to lose but it did. Look at the highlight reel from CampusInsider for the mayhem that ensued. Clemson Has Problems #2 team in the land should be hopped over by Florida State in the latest polls due to come out. Their rushing attack is averaging almost 100 yards less a game this year despite playing Auburn and Troy. DeShaun Watson is getting little help with all of the drops his receiving corps is providing him. If it was not for his scrambling and rusing ability, Clemson would have lost one of its first two games. 30-24 against Troy with the talent that the Tigers have is unforgivable. What about the positive? Alabama keeps cashing wagers no mater what the point spread is. LSU has probably found a decent quarterback option for the rest of the season. Washington’s Jake Browning is superb at QB for them. If their pass rush progresses like it has on Saturday against Idaho then your Huskies are the favorites to win the Pac 12. Earlier in this window, he walked seven Brewers in the middle of August. He has lost traction in the CY Young race by these starts. While he gets a lot of benefit of the doubt, the oddsmakers did not really take this into account when they opened the Cubs ML at -168. Down to -140 Cubs ML Part of the reason for the dip is the odd production from Arrieta. The other is that the Astros are playing for their lives and have Fiers on the mound. His WHIP in his last three is at 1.59 but ERA is lower than Arrieta’s in that stretch. This knack of getting out of jams continues for the Astros. Combine that with the stated tone of urgency in the locker room knowing that they have to continue to win has caused the over night sharps to buy heavy into the Astros tonight.
