No idea what happened or what the outcome was. Honestly havent even checked this board in probably 6 months. If it wasnt for trolling javy at peeps, I havent really been on forums in a long time. I remembered calling lamar jackson years ago so in classic timely fashion I had to return for a post to pat myself on the back. Like brick and dont think his intent was the scam people. I'm building most of my models in PowerBI using A LOT of manual data sets from years past and pairing those to new auto-pulled data from multiple source softwares. It hasnt been the cleanest transition, and the manual data had a lot of cleanup issues (breaking news!) Our source reporting format changed as well this year, which made it all the more fun. After I clean up all the work and get the sets to match, I use PowerBI to build all measures and analytics using both R and DAX. This would be as far as I go from a coding standpoint. I'm not sure I'd say I'm a "coder." I've built the models and I maintain them now, but my work is more directed towards analysis of said outputs while upholding the data integrity of the inputs. As of now I'm working with a lot of historical data and just getting into the realm of forecasting and budgeting based on future. As I delve more into future forecasts and markets, I imagine I'll get a little deeper into the more advanced measures.

gotcha. I've yet to work with Python. What are the main differences/benefits compared to R? I've heard R is more statistically forward which works better for what I'm doing. Not sure how accurate that is though.

Actually spearheaded the department at my company. Doing 60 million a year in revenues yet didnt have any advanced reporting or analytics in place - archaic as fuck. Been a big project but I enjoy database building and I'm one of the only people working in finance that have business operations experience which helps me communicate better with ops people who typically don't understand the lingo.

yeah I think you'll be fine. I work mostly in PowerBI using Dax and R right now. I know you work a lot with R.

Life is good pal. Wife is good; can't complain yet! Working a lot - going well there. Got out of operations at the beginning if this year into financial data analysis. Been more challenging but more rewarding. Ramping up for the holidays now.

Some Spanish helps for sure but I'm sure you could survive without it - translation apps help too. Your main cost would be airfare and room and board. After that, the rest of your expenses could be pretty cheap. Going out isnt very expensive - booze and what not.

Youd enjoy it for sure. Great night life scene. Went to some night club called La Oculta that was hidden in a restaurant behind a book shelf. That entire area where the club was located has about as good of a restaurant/bar/night life scene as I've ever seen. Swarming with people and tons of places to go with a big square and the streets shut down to cars. I'm surprised my wife hasnt uploaded more pictures on Facebook yet.

Yes, as safe as big cities here. I wouldnt go to Cali, but all the other major areas are great. People were incredibly nice even though my parents dont speak spanish at all and mine could be better. Weather is perfect in medillin - a little warmer if you're not in the mountains. If you get the chance you should definitely go. And yeah I flew into ft Lauderdale and then down. About 6 hours in the air - not that bad. If/when they add direct flights from chicago to medillin it should be like 5 1/2 hours.

about a month. I had 4 weeks of vacation I had to use by years end. Worked out great because work wasnt going to be busy in December. Wife was there 6 weeks. Most things are so cheap down there. 2 weeks of Airbnb rentals was a majority of the cost. Food was probably my least favorite thing in the country but ate at Carmen in Medillin one of our last nights and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. New years was wild there too. People everywhere. One of the craziest things I've seen. Great views everywhere you go. You gotta check it out if you ever get the chance. Weather is perfect in the mountains too. Hope you and yours had a nice holiday.

Colombia. Yeah I have some great pics. Beautiful country. Amazing people. Cant say enough nice things. Spent the first couple weeks around and in medillin and the last couple weeks in el penol and the mountains. Everything was so cheap too for the most part. I'll upload some pics for you either tonight or tomorrow night. Pretty fucked and bogged down at work. 14 hour day today and tomorrow I imagine to get caught up. My parents enjoyed the place so much they floated the idea of spending a couple months a year down their with my in laws in the winters - having her buy property for them.
