They buy up all the second hand stuff as a group and put it into a shipping container that goes to the flea mercado's and people they know in Mexico/home country. Just overall. I've seen some gated communities in Mexico that were built for Canadian/US ex-pats that looked pretty awesome. I think Asia has some countries where an American/Canuck expat would enjoy a better standard of living and most Asian countries are much safer than Mexico. I was never overly comfortable with the huge gap in quality of life. The folks were very pleasant, maid and gardener and their family. It just didn't seem right.
