yisman
...and all seven missed the playoffs. The first time that's happened in the current era (with Winnipeg/Ottawa/Montreal/Toronto/Edmonton/Calgary/Vancouver).
maron
I like to see half of them make it because their fans are rabid for the most part for the game.. A damn shame

yisman
It's not like winnipegs been in the league for long, the stat doesn't mean anything This is only the second time in the history of the NHL that all Canadian teams missed the playoffs. The previous time was in 1970, and there were only two Canadian teams then. Better?

Bimmercando
Word is that Florida will be the Canadian adopted team to root for and an easy onefor the number of Canadian players on the team as well as the winter destination fortons of Quebecers and Ontario folks
The Dark Man
If the Canadian dollar does not improve and contracts structured to take the incredible Canadian and provincial tax hits, this will be commonplace.
tripp
The only really surprising team this year is Montreal, who fell apart after they lost the best goalie in the league Carey Price. The other 6 were not expected to make the playoffs Usually you do have one or two of them that overachieve (last year was surprising with Calg/Winnipeg/Ottawa all overachieving) but I dont think you can look at any of the teams outside of MTL and say "wow they really underachieved with all that talent" EDM has sucked forever and missed Mcdavid for a long time. They are probably still two years away from the playoffs Toronto sucks and knows they suck. They are finally doing a real rebuild like they should have done a while ago. Winnipeg is decent but unfortunately in a stacked div with Chicago, Dallas, St Louis, Nashville and Minnesota. Even colorado is decent, zero bad teams in that division and three of the best in hockey. Calgary had a magical run last year but all advanced stats said it was unsustainable and theyd fall back this year, which was right. Vanc has been tending downward for a while since their Cup loss and should be a bottom 5 team for the next couple years. Ottawa was/is the big mystery team. People wanted to buy their late run was for real but not sure they have the talent depth to be that good. Another team whos advanced stats last season were not flattering
Bimmercando
Tripp's report = NHL Canada in a nutshell Habs with No Price = Priceless ( to other clubs and Toronto fans ) He earned each and every one of his trophies last season
maron
Montreal was a Puckline beast early in the year...they would play full throttle knowing that Price could handle himself out there...when he got hurt...the new system could not work and they just play confused and bad hockey
