"Most high paying professional jobs are easy for Canadians to get TN or H1B visa for, so there is no need for illegal work, or if any does occur it is usually only in a transitional period before the right visa is obtained. And most low level service jobs are not much better paid than in Canada and suffer from not having health insurance. So any low level illegal work by Canadians is likely to be of a more time-limited recreational nature (working vacation) than a persistent thing. This might compare to a sort of upwardly mobile version of Mexican seasonal farm workers: think young adults looking for summer jobs in Florida or winter jobs as ski instructors at Tahoe." But I hope that if an illegal Canadian couple showed up at Teddys jobsite selling pancakes with Canadian maple syrup out of the trunk of their beater car that he would let them stay.
