The conviction of Brendan Dassey, a Wisconsin man who appeared in the documentary "Making a Murderer," has been overturned by a federal judge in Milwaukee, according to court documents obtained by CNN.

Dassey was convicted in 2007 in the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach. In overturning the conviction, the judge cited the manner in which a confession was obtained from Dassey, who according to court documents has a low IQ.

Prosecutors have 90 days to bring Dassey, now 26, to trial again or he will be released.

His uncle, Steven Avery, the subject of "Making a Murderer," is in a Wisconsin prison also serving time for Halbach's murder.

It's possible that the kid was involved and might have raped her and helped dispose of the body. That is pure sepculation. They had nothing on him and his attorneys were working with the prosecution. He had no representation. It is unreal that the Wisconsin Supreme Court watched those tapes and upheld the verdict. The whole thing was a joke even if he was involved somehow.

U.S. judge orders ‘Making a Murderer’ inmate be released by Friday

MADISON, WIS.—A federal judge has ordered that a man convicted in the case featured in the Netflix series Making a Murderer must be released from prison by Friday evening.

U.S. Magistrate Judge William Duffin overturned Brendan Dassey’s conviction in August, saying investigators tricked Brendan Dassey into confessing he helped his uncle, Steven Avery, rape, kill and mutilate photographer Teresa Halbach in 2005. State attorneys have been arguing he should remain in prison while they pursue an appeal.

Duffin ordered him released Monday. The state Justice Department asked Duffin on Tuesday to stay his ruling, but Duffin issued an order Wednesday saying Dassey must be released by 8 p.m. Friday.

It was actually kinda funny when Brendan asked the cops if he could go back to school after confessing to a murder. Those two detectives (and a few others on the force) wouldn't be alive today if any of that's kids relatives had any sense of righteousness.

When I first watched the series I thought Steven might have killed some of the cops and/or lawyers that wrongly imprisoned him for 18 fucking years after he was released. I'd be pretty tempted. .
