Not sure why you would go way the heck up to N LV anyways.

Were you trying to score an 8 ball or what? Are you kidding me?

KFC, Aliante.

Good grief, square move.

And I used to hang out at the Western when it re-opened..99c beers  :bulb

Hey don't get ticked off.

I'm just trying to give you advice. It's not worth the trek, is all.

I was grinding on those streets professionally at only 22 years old...

I wouldn't say I'm a "prodigy"...I certainly made a go at it.

It's much more than a lot of people can say.

I did it for a little less than a year, just wasn't mature enough for the grind.

I didn't fail, I walked with roughly the same money in my pocket I started, 10 pounds heavier and a bit less hair.

I had only a few years under my belt. I didn't know Fish, Durito, or you at the time. I would have called.

You should be taking advice rather than giving it.

we could all take more advice than we give

even the best of us are missing 99% of the advantages in this world... and if we're making a ton of money it still might not be the best lifestyle choice

best advice i can give is to have kids that love you.  if someone can get to that point without being married, even better  :laugh

As far as worth the trek, probably depends on the day and/or time of the week.....and if one can kill other birds there at the same time.

Personally, was fortunate to have a friend living next to Aliante in the pre-app days(still do), so a quick text and he was able to get bets in there most of the time for me.

2016 Nevada Mobile Betting Rundown

August 13, 2016 8 Comments Written by FrankB

Going into the 2016 football season Nevada will have 12 sports book operations offering mobile betting. That’s pretty good considering there are just 20 individual sports book operators in the state (soon to be 19 when Aliante converts to Coast) and a few of those are probably too small to justify having a betting app. Of the remaining sports books, the Harrahs/Caesars group is by far the largest one to not have a mobile betting presence. The other without an app that would probably benefit the most from offering one is Stratosphere, but they rarely make the smart move in operations there so the expectation is they’ll remain walk-in only. Due to their opinionated lines, the Golden Nugget would probably be the most welcomed by serious bettors if they added mobile betting. There’s a dozen right now though so let’s have a look at them.

The average bettor won’t want to commit the bankroll nor have the inclination to deposit money with all 12 sports books offering mobile betting. The majority will want to pick and choose a handful at most to post up with, so here’s some basic info on app betting and some specifics on each individual app and what they offer.

DEVICES

Nevada mobile betting applications all use GPS tracking to locate bettors and confirm that they’re within state lines at the time they make a bet. Turns out the device you have and the operating system it runs on can make a difference as to whether you will get a bet accepted when near a border. Many gaming towns are located very close to a state line for obvious reasons (Laughlin, Mesquite, South Lake Tahoe, Primm, Wendover, etc). Getting a bet approved at these locations can be an issue, but having the right set up can help. Apple and Android operate a little differently when it comes to locating you. I’ll skip all the technical jargon like GLONASS, orbital plane inclination, and trilateration equations and just cut to the chase: Most Android phones work better than Apple devices as far as pinpointing your location for betting purposes. Recently, while located less than 500 feet from the NV/CA state line, I did a side by side comparison of an Apple iPhone 6 vs a Samsung Galaxy S5. The Android phone was able to make bets on all apps except for CGT and the iPhone could make bets only on the MGM app. If considering getting a cheap Android phone for betting make sure it’s LTE capable or you’ll have problems with location permissions. Older devices can have issues, too.

LTE/WIFI/BLUETOOTH

LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and it’s more of a capability than an achieved speed. Regardless, the way the mobile apps work they require that capability, otherwise you may get a message stating that the GPS functionality of your phone is inadequate. Just make sure your device has LTE capability and you should be fine.

There are four types of software in use for mobile betting and three of them work whether you have WIFI turned on or not. The Miomni software that runs seven of the twelve apps requires that WIFI and Bluetooth be turned off in order to log-in so you will have to make sure those features are disabled. All the apps prohibit another device being connected to the one with the app installed so no power sources, screen mirrors or other connections are allowed. Unplug everything.

COMPS

Coast, Atlantis, Peppermill, Aliante, and Station all claim to offer comp credit to mobile bettors. What you get from each can be a little mysterious since none show what you’ve earned directly on the app. It’s either inquire at the sports book or the credit gets added to your overall casino balance. It’s clear from observation over the last calendar year though that Atlantis and Peppermill comp at the best rate. Westgate has been rumored to be adding the earning of comp credit to the app but it hasn’t happened yet.*

MIOMNI SOFTWARE

The Miomni software is the most prevalent. It runs seven of the twelve available apps and has a few features which can make your betting experience more user friendly. The first is the ability to pre-set your default bet amount and your minimum and maximum bets. Go to settings to find these. Make sure you set the max bet first as it won’t allow you to set the min above the max even while in settings. The slider setting should be turned on so it can define the range of bet sizes you established in the min and max settings The slider will start at your min setting and top out at your max. Lastly, set the bet increment to what you feel comfortable with. For most who bet moneyline sports like baseball the $1 increment will make the most sense. I’ve tried using the $10 increment but that will make for odd bet amounts if the price on a bet doesn’t end in a zero.

The other VERY useful feature you’ll want enabled is Expand Sports Lists. What this does when turned on is show the full bet available including the price on each side when you click on a category. If this is not enabled then you’ll have to click each game individually to see the line which is a major pain. Turn Expand Sports Lists on and you’ll see all the lines for a category without having to click on each game separately.

Lastly, when you want to make a bet you simply add it to your bet page where it will sit with any other bets you choose until you’re ready to submit your wagers. From the bet page you can create parlays, teasers, etc. from your list of saved bets.

The Miomni software is the most user friendly once logged in but is also the strictest as far as allowing you to log in. As already noted, everything must be unplugged from your device, WIFI and Bluetooth must be turned off and you must be within Nevada state lines to log in. Being within state lines to log in is required by the Miomni software and the CGT software. The MGM app along with the William Hill-run apps (WH, Peppermill, and South Point) all allow log-ins from outside the state. This is because the GPS location occurs at the point you want to make a bet on those apps while Miomni apps preauthorize your ability to bet at log-in.

BET SIZES AND RESTRICTIONS

Max-bet limits vary wildly among the apps. On the high end are Westgate, SouthPoint, MGM, and CGT, while on the low end are Atlantis, Aliante, and Treasure Island. Coast has established bet limits that are lower than most would expect, usually from $300 to $500 depending on the bet, but it doesn’t have an approval step in place so your bets go right in up to the preset limit.

CGT is the only app that has an approval/counter-offer feature. When you submit a bet that requires approval you may get approved, denied, or COUNTERED. The counter will usually be an amount less than your submitted amount but occasionally you can get a counter offer that is higher than what you punched in. This is mostly done with bigger players who CGT is familiar with and appears to be their way of saying they need more on that side so come and get it. If you decline their higher counter offer you get the original submission amount.

Overnite betting is a fluid thing with the apps so it’s mostly a trial and error exercise right now. Coast is your best shot at getting in a bet after hours. SouthPoint is a possibility, but it usually just opens betting a little earlier than the others. CGT will often take bets at significantly reduced limits overnite and during football season has run 24-hour betting on the weekends. MGM being the newest app out there is a bit of an unknown, but off-hours bets have been accepted and the expectation is that they will have very liberal hours during football season. Nothing is written in stone as far as betting hours go, so you just have to keep checking in to see which apps have betting open.

*Players card credit earned on the Miomni platform can be a negative for higher rated casino players who are receiving valuable offers. Yes you get the credit for your sports bets but you are also creating another gaming day each time you bet on the app. That means you’re ADT (Average Daily Theoretical) gets watered down because of your sports bets. Significant drop offs on mail offers received have been noted at Coast, Aliante, and Atlantis.
