First I've heard of this.

Are you ready to celebrate National Pancake Day?

It's the one day of the year when it's perfectly acceptable to tuck into an enormous helping of discount flapjacks at your local pancake house. And lucky for pancake lovers, there are still plenty of places to get free or low-priced breakfasts in honor of National Pancake Day.

IHOP is giving away free stacks of their Original Buttermilk Pancakes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at participating restaurants across the country. In return, IHOP asks that patrons simply make a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the Shriners Hospitals for Children, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

According to IHOP’s website, their efforts have already raised $24 million in charitable donations since began offering the deal on National Pancake Day in 2006.

“Every pancake served on IHOP National Pancake Day has a purpose, and every penny raised goes a long way in making a meaningful, and lasting, impact on so many kids and families in our communities,” wrote IHOP president Darren Rebelez in a press release.

But IHOP isn’t the only eatery offering a delicious deal in honor of National Pancake Day. Breakfast spots like Denny's and Friendly's are also serving up savings today--

Denny’s: The diner chain is offering all-you-can-eat pancakes for $4. But if you can’t make it there this morning, the deal is currently available on the restaurant’s $2 $4 $6 $8 menu.

Friendly’s: Every weekday during normal breakfast hours, Friendly’s offers 50 percent off their entire breakfast menu, which includes Buttermilk Pancakes, Cinnamon Bun Pancakes, and Red, White and Blueberry Pancakes.

Peet's Coffee: The coffee shop is offering 50 percent off an expresso beverage through March 7 with this printable coupon. Restrictions apply, so read the fine print carefully.

Einstein Bros Bagels: By signing up for the company's Shmear Society email letter, customers can earn a free bagel and shmear with their next purchase. Membership also allots for a free egg sandwich on the club member's birthday.
