Once installed it stores any coin - bitcoin/ethereum/litecoin etc locally on your personal computer meaning you are in control of your coin 100%. Its a wallet, you send it 1 bitcoin and it holds the bitcoin for you to hold or send, it has nothing to do with the value of bitcoin.
