The bridge collapse caused some traffic disruption for a time, but that was about it, it did get the dot going on a number of other bridge replacements that were overdue. By the way, the bridge failed because excessive  weight was placed upon it, one engineer stated that the bridge would have collapsed even if it was brand new with the kind of weight they put on it.

Why, are you an expert on fracture critical bridges? Apparently they built the bridge in the 60's, and over time they added  weight with more/higher concrete medians, etc, along with overlays. Then when they were doing more maint they literally stacked  all the building materials on it, and had many dump trucks, etc sitting on it while they kept two lanes open to traffic(which was bumper to bumper). The entire structure was dependent on several steel gusset plates(maybe an inch thick) holding...it didnt.
