70% Marginal Tax Rate? Yes please.

The highest marginal tax rate being floated around by a certain DEM is repulsive to me. I don't think income should be taxed at all.  I started to think about who would actually have to pay it (applies on income...not capital gains...of over $10 mil). The two groups I could think of are athletes and Hollywood. Sign me up. The comedy of watching my alleged moral superiors paying upwards of 80% tax (state tax included) would be 100% worth it for me in entertainment value alone. LBJ, Stephen Colbert and friends would change their tune in a NY minute.

AOC is comedy when she opens her pie hole. Her and Bernie should team up for the Socialist party.

Sounds good to me.

Also, one good thing about this shutdown... looks like food stamps will be in trouble soon.  Maybe it'll force some of these people who don't need them to go out and get a fuckin' job.

I'm soft when it comes to food stamps. I do not want any kid going hungry because they have garbage parents.

f it were someone's entire salary, then 70% is extreme. But once they hit a certain number, it isn't as bad. Now, while not my money, they also make their money in and off of our system, so I do understand it.

However, with that said, if it's going to be wasted, then I can understand those being pissed. We need a massive cleanup of government and its expenditures, something of which those who make a lot and would be taxed a lot would prob feel compelled to use their donor influence on if/when they start feeling it more.

So it all could work itself out!

I hate being Debbie Downer here, but it will never work itself out.

Governments always GROW.  They never get smaller.  The people that begin to accumulate power, special interest and politicians, use that power to stay in control and gain more control.

That wasteful spending and over-taxing is how they go about keeping and gaining more power.  Politicians and special interest working together.  They will all say they agree with you and if you vote for them they will do their best to put an end to it all - and once in office immediately begin to line their pockets with special interest money.  The honest politicians that get elected cannot fight the system - in congress, the power resides with those that have seniority ( and every politician with seniority has already gotten rich off of special interest ).

Tax rates are completely arbitrary. You do not even need to have taxes. The government has the capacity to do whatever it wants whenever it wants. It is who gets rewarded in that process that matters and then how those rewards are distributed. That is what taxes do when you limit the amount a government can spend to ensure wealth.

When you need a war or a bank bailout, there is limitless money. If you want health insurance it cannot be afforded even though that amount and more will be spent on other things. Such as the whole college education thing. They say we can't afford that but the cost of upgrading nuclear weapons is actually higher. They say we cannot not afford not to do that.
