I wish you guys wouldn't hit the comment button and just quote and reply. It messes with the flow of the thread.... and my mind.

Yes, BigD slots are "beatable" and yes it's possible to win. Nothing really is "unbeatable". I know a few cancer survivors. Almost everything is beatable.

I think many of you guys preach to always find +EV.

Slots are about as far from +EV as you can get.

I am a true action junkie. I go to bars and bet 150 on a guy i never met playing pool if the other guy has the cash. Bartender holds the cash till the game is over and pays either me or the dude that smoked my guy.

My point is, you're MUCH better off betting on the skills of others through your own eyes than trying to beat the math of a slot payout.

I was surprised that video poker was +EV on some machines. I can never sit still that long, so I'm not a guy who can take advantage of it.

I was also surprised when I calced the odds on many of the promotions in the Local's casinos in Vegas to be +EV. Folks like Fishy live off this stuff. Just got to keep your eyes open if you live in this town.

Chris, for most here, slots, or even video poker for that matter, is not something tthat most here are going to concentrate their efforts on, but I have provided a few slot machines in videos thus far that are beatable and will in all likelihood show a few more in the future and these are machines posters can play with a return of over 100%, I will not be showing the best of the best that I know currently as to not ruin the play for some of my friends and myself, and there are some out there I'm not aware of obviously......the same goes with video poker. Slots are not nearly as lucrative as they were in previous years,

Dutch, although video poker paybacks are constantly be slashed, there are still many, many casinos in the city and other areas of Nevada that provide income for the professional video poker player, most all profits are obtained through mailers, promotions, and progressives similar to those shown in the South Point videos, but much like slots, many are finding it much more rough sledding than years gone by.......from a personal standpoint, slots/video poker has been better than decent the past 2-3 years, mostly due to 3-4 outstanding plays coupled with numerous other venues with very good mailers,......overall, play at about 15 casinos, many others who solely do VP only, (no sports, poker, blackjack, etc.,etc) play at many more casinos on a quarterly basis to generate income.

Fish,

It is getting tougher and tougher to do what you do. You've had +EV machines and slot clubs. This was mostly because the casinos considered these to be small money and not worth much attention.

The casinos are looking for ways to squeeze you for pennies now.

Do you think it will be possible to make a living doing what you do in the future?

I go to the tribal casinos and play live poker mostly.

I think the AP information is interesting just to find out about such things.

They have Ultimate X, progressive video poker, "must pay by" slots, Rock Around the Clock and possibly other machines. I usually walk by them going to the poker room and occasionally find something to play. The good "must pay" machines have always had somebody camped out on the machine, but the others have plays. I've never won anything good but I try.

There probably will always be something available, but it is tough to find anything worth the time and effort.

Cyber, those are all "flea" plays you mentioned, they are good to scoop up when seen, seldom chased for.......back in the day there were 500x the flea plays and it was worthwhile chasing them, as one could profit hundreds and hundreds daily with no downside.............today the bigger money is made on mailers, promos, progressives, .......as well as "secret" plays between a small circle of longtime professionals.

The $1 progressive at South Point mentioned earlier in a video will reach 9k at approximately 2am this morning......making for a 101.6% game.....at $4500 coin in per hour this equates to roughly a $70 per hour play on paper, not to shabby in this day and age of video poker where plays are few and hard to come by compared to years past.

Gamebred, 10+ years ago it was probably tops on my recommended list of sportsbetting books and still comes recommended ..........with the internet, much in the book as become obsolete, book the book is still a staple on my bookshelf.......the book was co-authored by Mike Rhoden, who stepped down as manager of the Alladdin a month or so before I started work there in 1988.
