fish, im coming to Vegas for the opening weekend of NFL and staying at the South Point. Tell me bout the South Point
Joe, good choice.....SP has excellent accommodations...........The sportsbook is perhaps the busiest day in and day out shop in the valley, open 23/7.

ChitownJoe requested info on machines and any promos beginning Sept 1st, will have a couple videos on the property about that time.

The South Point will be offering patrons a shot of a guaranteed 25k prize pool the first week of the NFL to any and everyone picking every game correctly straight up, cost of the card is $5 and one is entitled to unlimited entries........ties split the prize pool........I'm anticipating the prize to be greater than 25K, as there will be quite a few individuals with many entries.

From a machine perspective, they currently offer one free spin when one records 300 pts on their card Sun-Wed........the SP has many machines that pay back even money or better with perfect strategy(will show these on upcoming video), thus these spins are all +EV in theory........the best I've hit personally is one for $50, with a couple $20 hits thrown in the mix also, most all others were some type of food voucher.

Does that type of spread ever draw attention in Vegas?

It seems the local's casinos have to run some "loss leaders" like this to get some action. In years past, the Stations used to run some very attractive NFL Football parlays on 1/2 point cards, some were even +EV considering 3 legs were at true odds and later in the week the line had shifted but the cards remained unchanged. The syndicates swooped in and killed 'em and the odds went up next year.

if they get a few "whale" BJ counters, they'll shut 'em down.

DO NOT eat at Smokeypoint Buffet.Let all the trailer trash have at it
Shocking news to report.......had the SouthPoint breakfast buffet yesterday(won it on swipe), and it was damn good, one of the better breakfast Buffets I've had in the city, way better than GVR................one even receives free bloody Mary's with the buffet if they like.

Very vast selection of items, clean, not that crowded, even a nice morning carving station featuring an array of meats.

Keep in mind, this was a Monday morning, so perhaps Mon--Wed is the best time to hit this morning buffet, less crowded.

Aliante, as last year, has the best +Ev football contest in the city that one has to pay an entry to(Stations $2 million dollar is free to President/Chairman holders). However, it's a relatively small purse($100k) and the drive must be made there weekly............it's really best for those killing other birds out there also at the same time, such as betting their off numbers, playing video poker, advantage slots, or a little blackjack. Last year they also ran a free weekly contest for all slot club members, unfortunately I got shutout on both contests other than winning some small change on the weekly end of the 100k event, but a couple of my friends rocked it in both contests.

Fish, I remember the Sunday Brunch at the Tropicana as being very good. Seeing your post on SP made me think of it (and I'll try that), is the Trop still holding up? This was some 5 years ago, as I recall.
Dutch, frequent the Trop weekly but seldom dine there........The Trop has done a fantastic job with their renovations and the rooms there get very good reviews.

The Trop is still offering there $200 sign up rebate offer, very +EV.

Ps- check out the VIP lounge for some delicious mixed nuts, great boost of energy source when on the run.

Sports Book for Sam

[video=youtube;TH3v3ZeGVSw]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TH3v3ZeGVSw

A few quick notes on the EL Cortez ....

1. The ATM promo is still in effect, one can take their receipt to cage and receive 5% in free play up to $1k they withdrawal.....thus, $50 for 1k

2. The infamous Flame Steakhouse is closing its doors at months end.

3. The $5 burger, chips, and a beer still available in the coffee shop, above average rating.

4. As mentioned in the video, the sportsbook staff and management is unparalleled in downtown Vegas, and as a Stations property, one will find very good lines and decent sized limits, the El Cortez players card is required on large wagers, the card returns $1 per every 1k wagered in food or cash back.

In my experience, the el cortez was extremely tight about drink tickets. This was before the renovation of the SB but after they moved the piano man from the bar to inside the steakhouse. The most I ever got was 3 drink tickets and my minimum wagers are always at least 300. Typical stations book. The staff are micromanaged on drink tickets. I'm not worried about free drinks if I've got action I can afford it but it'd be nice to get more than 2 or 3.

They did renovated the smaller bar across the hall from the steakhouse, put a wall up... they've made efforts to church it up as a trendy, high class place. $7 for a drink at the dump el cortez? Pass. The old sleezy el cortez was better :cigar
