Secondly, they had to move it from Summer to Winter because it's so hot there during the Summer. Thirdly, Qatar is full of POS people who are using modern-day slaves to build their stadiums. Terrible fan experience too, no drinking outside the stadiums, no hot chicks with tiny tops, terrible. It wil be held in December so it will screw all the leagues in the world. Due to the cluster-F with moving the tourney in 2022, they just gave Fox the 2026 TV rights at way under the market value of what they could have made in 2026 (especially if it's in the US, who is considered the favorite right now) as a way of making sure that they didn't sue them or try to renegotiate the 2022 rights since they bid on them under the provisions that it was a summer tournament. Everything about the Qatar tourney's bid is such a joke in hindsight...we'll hold a summer world cup in 12 air conditioned stadiums...oh wait, we're not gonna build that many stadiums, and wait, that whole air conditioning thing isn't going to work out, and oh wait, we need to have the tourney in the winter now to make it feasible. Slave labor promoted by Fifa. Qatar taking the best players from their camps in Africa and taking those kids to Qatar, not unlike their old Olympic lifting teams. These are grotesque humans.
