have you actually DONE that special? i did a similar one once, and when i checked out there was over $10/day of extra fees and taxes. only fees and taxes they included in the $42.99 were sales tax and the enterprise fee... not the crap like "mccarron airport rental facility fee". i think one time i counted and there were 8 different line items of fees and taxes, even after the initial price

Many, many times.

Enterprise is terrific

.......they even have their own rewards card.

Ps- make sure you mention you did not arrive or need transportation from airport, the airport fee will be docked.

As stated, done this numerous times, the entire weekend for less than $45, TOTAL.

i just found the breakdown of rental car taxes in las vegas... not including all of the stupid rental car company fees

Airport Taxes & Fees

Remember to bear in mind that the base rate you're quoted on rental fees will then be topped up by a whole raft of additional taxes and fees, particularly if you rent from the airport, where vehicle rentals are subject to additional charges.

Here's the breakdown.

Nevada sales tax for car rentals is 7.75%. But all car rentals also require that you pay a 10% concession recovery fee, a 6% government license surcharge, a 4% license recovery fee, and 2% to fund the building of a performing-arts center and a training facility for culinary workers, plus a $3-per-day (or more) customer facility fee, if you're picking up from the airport.

So, all told, non-locals pay 29.75% of the rental-car bill in taxes, plus $3 a day, to rent a car in Las Vegas. Locals, exempt from the 2% arts fund, pay the 27.75%, plus $3 per day.

Here you go Mike! You obviously don't check around that much. The KEY THING is NOT to make the car reservation too far in advance. But you can ALWAYS get these deals!!\\

And he doesn't need a big car because actually there may be days where he wont even use it. And Mike he doesn't need a decent hotel, he is looking to have fun not stay at a hotel. I can PROMISE you that the hotels that I mentioned will give out those rates and even cheaper for a month long stay. But I wouldn't use the monthlong option because you wont be able to get as much comped that way.

Mike you need to realize that you are talking to a guy who goes to Vegas almost every summer for a month and doesn't pay a dime for hotels. And I knew that the rental cars were around $15 a day as well because I use it each year. I am not a rookie here, I have researched all options over the past 10 years.

If one uses Orbitz, they will quote the base price and the price plus all additional fees........

Thus, if you see a price $128($183)the $183 will be the exact amount one will pay OTHER than airport/shuttle fee and insurance, both of which one can avoid if one chooses, easier to do if local on the former.

The prices on hotwire also include ALL fees in that price per week. The link above didn't work, but it would have shown some rentals for as low as $11 a day. But today the lowest is around $15 a day plus fees. But for 7 days INCLUDING all fees is $202 or so

even your link (and that hot rate is for sixt who should NEVER be dealt with) would be 202 for 7 days ($29/day)...

so twice as high as you said (and most weeks i checked were 220), and have to deal with the worst car rental company in the world. just read the las vegas horror story sixt reviews on yelp

something that peeked my curiosity from reading this thread....

are some car rental places in Vegas (I know some companies are different, and location can matter..etc..) pretty lax on just using a debit card to rent a car...

or do you pretty much much HAVE to have a credit card to rent?

I've rented from the Enterprise on Eastern over 20 times, once I forgot my CC at home but they let me use my debit card, but we're semi-reluctant, only let me slide because they know me very well......not sure with other places, but in all likelihood one is going to need a CC

About a month ago, I needed a rental car as my car was in for repairs. This was with Avis who I rent from frequently. If you want to use a debit card with them they say they have to do a "credit check". I assumed that my credit card company had received my payment and I had enough clearance to rent the car. But for whatever reason, the credit hadn't hit my account yet and I was forced to use my debit card. He slid my card into his PC and it came back OK immediately.

You would be better off renting a condo in Vegas if you're going to be staying there that long. If money isn't an issue then I would check out the MGM Signature Suites.

He has plainly stated money is an issue........

Having said that, try Palace Station, they usually have cheap rooms available.

You need to do some homework. When paying for a room there are other considerations and those

are the things that cost $$. Resort fees are everywhere. If staying any of the places mentioned that's an

additional $15-$30 a night with an average of about $22. Weekends cost more so $30 on a weeknight

at Excalibur (plus mandatory $20 resort fee per night) will cost you about $50 on a weeknight. Weekends

are more. Flamingo/Ballys/Quad all have a resort fee of $25 per night.

To stay 3 weeks uncomped and wanting to be somewhere reasonably close to strip you will be

spending 1K at least, probably more. At an average resort fee of $20 a night for 21 nights that's over

$400 just in resort fees and you still have to pay for the room.

You can use this chart to check out each casino's resort fee. I'd look at Gold Coast, Hooters and maybe

Circus. If you're OK with downtown I'd look at Plaza or Cortez. Silver Sevens is also an option behind Strip.

great advice

even golden nugget charges $20/night resort fee

I cringe when people (po69) throw out ridiculous unattainable numbers like $15/day for rental car and $30/night for hotel even on fri/sat

but this is really just another troll thread by bigbill
