do those 32 and 32 controlling people put any incentives in the contracts for individual performances ever?

do players believe that their performances and stats will help them get bigger contracts, stay on the roster, get more snaps, get advertising opportunities?

none of this shit exists in some philosophical singular vacuum. It's all mixed up, with Testosterone leading the charge on sunday

It further supports what I said about effort given by a college athlete vs. pro athlete.

In college he probably throws that block.

it's a contradictory argument

Pro athletes are taught to just play to win and forget about individualism for the sake of the franchises business... yet they also take plays off and don't block because they are lazy, selfish individuals, and want to not get hurt to earn more individual money, even if it prevents their team from having a better chance of winning.

The bottom line is, NFL players care quite a bit more than just the score at the end of the game. Jim basically says teams just care about winning. But teams are made up of players and those players care about a lot more than that.

House, the average NFL career is just a few years. Once they get paid they just don't exert the same effort as they did in college.

Yeah it's not black or white either way. It's a mixed bag tinged with human shit

You get all kinds in the NFL. super ra ra team before anything I want to win before anything sacrificial guys and guys that only care about stats or their next contract.

It's a mixed bag

Sure.

But there's just so much money involved that these guys are thinking about risk management when they should be thinking about throwing blocks.

There's a reason the Army recruits young single guys for the infantry. A married guy with a wife, kids and mortgage is less inclined to volunteer to do something dangerous because he's thinking about risk management.
