IAG
Unless you are evading taxes, who wants to deal with this shit? I will never buy regular goods with BTC…not only because I am holding as investment, but because the government has made it a giant PITA
IAG
And this was even in 2013 before they eliminated 1031 transactions in 2018 I think it was. You swap BTC for ETH taxable event!

WeinkeToWarrick
It’s literally impossible to account for each transaction. That’s an unenforceable tax law

Until a person can easily buy a pack of gum or soda at the corner store with cryptocurrency, it's acceptance is basically non-existent. So therefore the trading value is based on a "wouldn't it be great" scenario of global acceptance as legal tender sometime down the road. I don't think global acceptance is going to happen, banks and governments will not give up control of our global financial systems because we want freedom. Easily buying things with crypto will never happen. Takes too long to confirm transactions. Crypto is actually far more traceable than cash. It's certainly not anonymous. Assuming that bitcoin is the real deal and the rest are fake - or shitcoins seems a tad reckless. They are all vulnerable are they not? By the way, you implied IAG was stupid because she dared to hold a different view of how safe, etc bitcoin wallets are. that's why I said it seems to have become a religion to you - religions allow no deviation from orhtodoxy. redstripe
So I basically have no clue about BTC or the other 3 I have on paypal. I am not a big player I have about 10k total. Just more of a hobby or gamble now. Honestly it's just a thing I wish I would have gotten into ten years ago when I had the chance to get a bunch of BTC for 100.00 each I think then. So if PayPal goes under and steals my crypto it's not really an issue at my investment level now . It's just play around money and would not miss it. But once I get over 20k in game then I will be more involved. Thanks W2W and IAG for all the great advice. Still dont understand the private wallet thing. Who is to say whoever owns the wallet company could not go under also. Thanks again for the responses. I am probably better off learning Spanish then learning about BTC at this point. Just too busy now to even think about wallets etc.
WeinkeToWarrick
Striper, go to ledger.com and learn about private hardware wallets. They even have a Ledger Academy where you can just learn. I also suggest you look into all the freezing and seizures that took place in Canada with the truckers and ask yourself if it’s really that far fetched for something like that to happen here. The cost to destroy or subvert the bitcoin network at this point would be way more than the cost to just buy a shitload and exert dominance that way. If the US was advanced and full of non-geriatric legislators, they would buy up a massive supply with printed fiat dollars then incentivize other countries to buy in as well
