but you said you moved it to cash?  there must be a cash option that at least makes some interest

Govt money fund, pays almost nothing, stable value. you cant lose anything(hopefully). But it's still registered as an IRA so you can flip back into stocks in an instant.

I use T Rowe Price.

can't you roll that over into an ira somewhere better?  like td ameritrade/etrade/schwab/fidelity... where you can get free trades and put it in cds, etc

I dont do that with IRA's, i do that with my regular money.  I have 2 - a roth that I can withdraw from tax free, and a rollover of my old 401K that's taxable when i withdraw, so I balance them out to make sure I pay little or no taxes.

you wouldn't pay taxes moving an ira to a different broker, it's a tax-free rollover from one ira to another

Why buy fresh when spoiled is just as good. :deemer

Seriously though, it's never spoiled, it's just getting close dated,  I wouldn't buy it if it looked bad,

Yes, outdated and/or looks bad......................pass.

In the bargain meat bin, find something about 9% of the time when investigating.

The problem is gold can go years and years without moving or even falling, silver is even worse. you cant do that with retirement money.

so can the stock market as you know

in the past 6 months i have had way too many stocks/cryptos lose 80-90% ugh... definitely should've taken my own advice and just held gold

3000 shares of penn from 136 down to 27 is my dumbest/worst hold
