Been using the official release for a couple days now and am hooked. It's faster looks nicer and has quite a few new neat features I'm sure I'll never use but still it was a free upgrade AND I downloaded the ISO file so that I can create a bootable usb drive for a fresh full installation should I need to re-install.

I'd recommend completing the upgrade first as it will create the "product key" required to activate windows should you need to reinstall later,.

You can find your product key using a simple program after you have upgraded to Windows 10.

This site has some good information.

Upgraded a couple days ago and so far so good. Had Windows 7 before and i actually think i like 10 a tad more over all at least for this short sample.

For me it was a matter of learning where the new Win10 keeps things. I like to change the settings so I want to know where to find the control panel and where to go to uninstall a program etc.

I have no reason to go back to 7 from 10 since I mostly use Firefox.

Only problem with Windows 10 so far for me is that the new browser - "edge" won't play nice with thegamblingforum.com - it won't post threads or replies on the forum.

Obviously I can use another browser and do but edge is faster than chrome so I want to keep using it.

I'm posting this reply using Edge.  All in all, I like Windows 10.  Had 7 before  and liked it.  10 seems faster.  Edge is a huge upgrade from IE, but still like Firefox better.

Plommer, you seem techy.

We should all 'Reserve a Free Upgrade to Windows 10' even if we are not going to update, correct?

Wouldn't it be silly to not to?

yes, reserve a copy, do the upgrade and it will generate a new product key that you save for when you want to do a clean install. perhaps on another machine.

save the iso file and/or burn it to dvd so you always have a copy.

Here we go with using lingo like iso file

an .iso file is basically a cd or dvd image.

iso's are meant to be burned to dvd. win 10 will make them readable (mounted like a cdrom) natively by double clicking on the file

in win 7 you can use this tool:   http://wincdemu.sysprogs.org/

PS: Deem you can confuse me by talking in legalese - were even.

Microsoft Edge extensions support delayed until 2016

http://www.theverge.com/2015/10/22/9596298/microsoft-edge-extensions-support-2016-release-update

Microsoft was planning to build extensions support into its new Edge browser by the end of the year, but the company has hit a delay. In a statement to The Verge today, Microsoft reveals that a future update planned for next year will include extensions support for Edge:

"We're committed to providing customers with a personalized web experience, which is why bringing extensions to Microsoft Edge continues to be a high priority. We're actively working to develop a secure extension model to make the safest and most reliable browser for our customers, and look forward to sharing more in a future Windows 10 update in 2016."

Microsoft's extensions support for Edge is still being tested internally, and the software maker is planning to allow Chrome and Firefox developers to easily port across their apps. Once the extensions support is ready, Windows 10 users will be able to install extensions from the Windows Store. It's not clear exactly why extensions are delayed, but given Microsoft's focus on security for Edge it's likely the company is using some extra time to ensure third-party apps within its browser are fully secure.
