According to FOX 29 Philadelphia, Gov. Christie has issued a directive to New Jersey casinos and racetracks allowing them to offer sports betting in the state of New Jersey.

It appears NJ will take the same approach marijuana advocates did out west re: Sports betting. Force the federal government to enforce their own laws, because they likely will not.

Good news for the East coasties.

It doesn't appear any of the tracks or casinos are going to rush into anything and start taking wagers immediately. I'm sure they don't have the manpower, software, machines etc to make sports betting operational at the drop of a hat. This will give the leagues the time needed to hold up the process while the casinos and tracks prepare. Hey, this is a step in the right direction.

Good news. Perhaps this would save Revel and others...too late now heh

Not necessarily. It should certainly enhance the value of it for another investor, so I wouldn't be surprised if something like this (if it sticks) will entice someone to buy the Revel/Showboat/Trump and open it back up again.

Someone at EOG says Monmouth is saying they're pushing to open in 2-3 weeks. I have no other insight other than that. I imagine the prices/options will be pretty limited while they test the waters once they get started. But it's still a move in the right direction.

William Hill already set up at Monmouth but not getting excited about these reports...will take a wait and see attitude....
