Yesterday Joe Girardi announced (as if it needed announcing) that Derek Jeter will be playing in all of the Yankees remaining games here in the last week of baseball, as New York is now all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, these will be his last games. Anyone think there's a betting angle there? Usually when a veteran team like the Yankees is out of playoff contention they shut it down completely, but maybe they'll be up a little bit extra to send off Jeter? Surprising for this to be the case so late in the season, with a lot of teams using 40-man roster pitchers for work or a look you're often seeing guys on the mound who probably have no business in an MLB uniform.
