vegas always gonna be vegas.  almost no one is going there just to bet sports.

agree about the sports betting... nothing lasts forever, milwaukee and detroit used to be great cities and they actually had real jobs where people made stuff

there are quite a few casinos across the country (potawatomi here included) that have casino floors with more 24/7 action than any vegas casino... 5 am tonight i can be playing bj/paigow/roulette/ultimate holdem/craps/live poker

can't think of a vegas casino that would be dealing all that stuff at that time

Virtually every casino on the strip is dealing every one those games around the clock.  Have fun trying to get a drink while you're playing at 5AM at Potawatomi.

You can go see great shows like Supertramp's Roger Hodgson or The Sun Kings at Potawatomi.  How fun.  LOL.  Then, you and your friends might be able to head over to the 3 nightclubs there at 4 AM and party with some hot broads.  Err wait.  There isn't a single nightclub in the casino?  Oh, it's past bar time?  How many hot chicks are hanging out at Potawatomi again?

If someone travels to Hawaii a lot, that doesn't mean they're going to stop going there if they put a pool in their backyard.

Meanwhile....

"The 2017 Nevada Gaming Abstract, published Friday by the state Gaming Control Board, said net income from Strip licensees that annually gross more than $1 million in gaming revenue was up 191.4 percent over the previous year to $814 million in the 2017 fiscal year that ended June 30."

Gaming net income nearly triples in a year for the major strip casinos.  But the tribal casinos are destroying Vegas...

That gaming revenue increase also meant almost nothing to their total revenue.  Overall, they were up 3.9%.

i've been up pretty early at a bunch of vegas casinos where i didn't see any pai gow poker, ultimate hold em running

good points otherwise but potatwatomi and hochunk serve liquor 24/7 and i don't gamble with friends

i love vegas, just saying nothing lasts forever, and comparing it to hawaii is somewhat silly... hmm beautiful islands or middle of the desert

millennials just don't go as many places, retail/mall was the first damage, movie theaters, travel, tourism, those are all gonna be seriously hurt and vegas is right there near the top... all this stuff is peaking now because of baby boomer demographics

I completely disagree with the demographics. People are filling the nightclubs every night and it isn't baby boomers. Things like EDC draw a hundred thousand millenials to Las Vegas in a weekend.

I've played Pai Gow poker more than a handful of times late into the night. There is almost always a table at every strip casino.

Speaking of Vegas....my son and his GF just left for the Angel game where a big group of survivors from the concert shooting is having a tail gate get together and reserved a big section of seats

I was asked to go and said that I don’t hang out with babies who weren’t shot but need hugs....sons GF stormed out and slammed the door

Like I care....I was in a big bank shoot out and could have been killed but was drinking beers hours later not laid up on a couch next to a shrink or planning pizza parties with the tellers

yeah it's probably just what you see based on what you're doing

i see peaceful slot floors (compared to regional casinos) but you see full nightclubs

since fishhead is up early i'll ask him how many paigow/ultimate tables are running at 5am on a wednesday... i haven't tried lately but in the past i have tried finding paigow open in the morning and had a devil of a time trying to find tables open, even on the strip

The overwhelming amount of people playing at the Paigow and baccarat tables at just the Gold Coast alone are mindboggling 24/7...……….majority Asian.

are those lower limit?  most of the stuff i've seen on the strip for paigow is 15 min daytime/25 at night

probably haven't played baccarat in 15 years, never really liked the game for whatever reason... i was amazed that a bunch of canada casinos have so many asians playing baccarat... seeing a bunch of asians playing craps would probably be about as silly as watching blacks play baccarat  :laugh

On the other end of the spectrum...………….a few times at The M early in the morning, have seen ALL the table games being completely empty.

and sometimes Asian players would DRAGON me and I didn't know what was happening.

Haha.  They didn't DRAGON you.  Some tables deal an extra hand that is called the DRAGON hand.  Dealer takes turns around the table offering the extra hand to players.

I like to put $5 on the envy bonus every time.  Can't do that with the DRAGON hand.  So I usually pass.

It felt like I was the one getting DRAGONED. The Asians would snicker at me with kimchee on their breath and I just had to stop playing.
