do you still play blackjack in vegas?

it’s -ev but i like dorking around with face-up pai gow

Very rarely now.  I haven't played many table games in the last few years.  Was betting horses most weekends.  So when I was in the casino, I was in the sportsbook.  Always went out to dinner after the California thoroughbreds were done and usually had enough of being there so I'd go home.  That whole routine changed with the masks though.  I used to like playing pai gow poker and getting drinks.  It's +EV with enough players if you bank every turn.  So many pushes and such a slow game.  You can sit there forever and tread water.   Going out with friends, there's something about craps that I like over any other game though.  And sometimes I'll just sit there and only play the don't just to be the asshole at the table.  Hopefully all this COVID-19 bullshit ends soon because it's hard for me to enjoy the casinos right now.

Still think MOTHERS is better than the places you recommend. Dave the meatman laughed at your New Orleans recommendations

Everyone who lives wherever he visits laughs at the places he thinks are good.

Never seen a food critic worth a shit that thinks every meal they eat is the best ever.

almost everything now is face-up pai gow where there are even MORE pushes, but you can’t bank

Brock, what special attributes does BJ in Illinois offer that Vegas does not?

BAUS

Three card poker hands

Top two plus dealer 1

Illinois, suited 3 of a kind 270-1

Nevada, if you can find it, 50-1

Illinois Straight Flush 180-1

Nevada, if you can find it, 30-1

Pathetic in every way possible

Those side bets have a neg ER of -3 to -5%(depending on the version), that's horrible and insurmountable. I see people playing perfect strategy on their main hand at $15 hand and then they're throwing away another $10-15 playing those horrible side bets, defeating the purpose of playing correctly to lower the house edge.

This is good info. Might give it a shot next time I am in a casino.

It's slow and dull and if you flat bet you'll make or lose very little, the problem is when I go to vegas I'm on a mission, I want to gamble fast, drink fast, get lots of outcomes.  Pai gow is only for perhaps nursing your money if you're getting killed.

LOL. So you weren't even talking about blackjack.  You were talking about sucker side bets.

Holy fuck.

some places were $25 or even $50 minimum

still a ton of variance where you can easily lose a bunch of hands in a row and be down $400

or a 5 cent blackjack machine if you're really broke lolol

exactly, if one were solely committed to snaring free drinks, no problem in vegas.

I see a really well dressed guy at SouthPoint, he plays keno a quarter at a time every 2-3 minutes for an hour or two a day..........snares about 14 shots and a couple beers.   I have a very good angle on him from my favorite machine at SP

Are those side bets? Or they just offer those extras as part of normal play?

BAUS

Side bets that aren't offered and if they are, they're paid off at SIGNIFICANTLY lower odds than illinois.

The game is the game everywhere, except with the piece of shit Vegas casinos who payout at 6/5 vs 3/2.
