Bigrunner
Balco, have you ever heard of Social Security, Medicare, Police Departments, Fire Departments, U.S. Military, Interstate Highways, K-12 schools, Air traffic control? Do the uneducated know these are all part of Democratic Socialism. Balco, are these programs bad for our country? Balco where did you go to college? Machiavelli
Merrick Garland. Current Republicons are far from America over party. Even ask Turtle Mitch. He broke the Constitution so he could get his judge. He's all party before country.I've made my thoughts on Garland very clear. If that's your justification for staying partisan, so be it. But very hard to have any sort of nuanced discussion when one is closed minded and stuck on ideology/partisan team. For myself, by being an American first, I can discuss all and seek to hold all to account. Dems kept telling Trump he'd have to accept the results of the election, but could not do so themselves. Thats unamerican.

Machiavelli
unhinged or do you mean factual, because we know how disturbing facts are, your so called impartiality is bullshitWhat is factual about her fantasy? Or how some of the others act? All it does is push reasonable people away, as bitterness is no bueno and highly unattractive to prospective voters. I say we will be worse off for those ads because Reps get to use them to gain more power and not do enough with the power to help people. If you're so concerned with helping people so Dems don't have to be unhinged, get them to be smarter about the way they come across to folks, as they have great arguments to make but cannot let their own emotions chill out so they can make them. And look at that, I both criticized both sides in this post and said something good about the Dems. I wonder why that is. Maybe because I continue to talk and assess sensibly instead of clinging to one side and falsely labeling others in a bitter crying fashion. Does the Constitution specify that when a Supreme Court seat becomes vacant the sitting president nominates a candidate and then the Senate advises and consents to the nomination. Did this happen with Merrick Garland? It did not. The Senate leader ignored Obama's nominee, resulting in the Senate failure to perform their constitutional duties. Because of Mitch McConnel's party before country agenda his Senate leadership caused the Senate to be Dereliction of Duty. Breaking the constitution. See link below. Now under the Trump regime the Senate continues to break the constitution. The tax scam was passed with back room meetings of the Republicons, in the dark with out any open hearings or input from the Dem's. As a matter of fact it was passed in the middle of the night with zero transparency and zero input from Dem Senators using the Nuclear option. Unprecedented!!! https://www.everycrsreport.com/reports/R44235.html
Machiavelli
A lot of them are. Trump himself likely isnt per se, but....he's an ace with psychology/manipulation and knows what works in the minds of people. Dems would be wise to finally learn the lessons of 2016. We have real issues that need to be solved, but won't in this climate. I don't absolve Trump or the Reps in the slightest, but want to see Dems be sharper to force them to be more serious and fair. However, that was basically legislated in the election when the voters knew the stakes and picked Trump. Now, I have also posted here that Trump would be doing the country a great service to offer the Dems him picking Garland so RBG can retire with dignity. We have real issues that need to be solved, but won't in this climate. I don't absolve Trump or the Reps in the slightest, but want to see Dems be sharper to force them to be more serious and fair. First off Trump barely won a rigged election in 2016. I think basing any pro Trump arguments on those rigged election results is ridiculous. The November '18 midterm results kind of confirms this. Dem's gaining control of 40 house seats with sweeping wins by a combined 9 million votes throughout the country. Plus the Senate map was very unfavorable with the Dem's defending 26 compared to just 9 by the corrupt RepubliCONs. The Dems only lost a net of 2 seats. With very unfavorable gerrymandered maps. Looking forward to the 2020 map. My argument is the November midterms proved the Dem's just need to avoid October and November surprises "James Comey" and Russian interference and hush money payments in 2020. Machiavelli
Obama lost midterms n then easily won re-election. Using 2018 to gloss over lessons of 2016 could be detrimental to 2020. Good luck. Unless y'all nominate Bernie or Tulsi, as then id want the luck myself and would likely be on your side.

Without the help of Comey, Wikileaks, Putin it won't matter who the Dem's elect. Besides this opinion Trump doesn't make 2020. He probably cuts a deal to save his and his family asses! I highly doubt our plutocratic gov't will actually do anything there. This is just their political baseball. Plus, what's better for Dems overall: Trump resigning Or Trump being thoroughly beaten at the ballot box? I get wanting him out by any means necessary, but in the big picture view, if he is soundly defeated, that helps Dems in a million ways.
